I Was Wrong. Now what?
In my last post I've talked about capping the upvote value could potentially protect us from outside bought influence.
After reading some well-thought comments from @dana-edwards [ also his post builds on his argument] and @repholder and based on the upvoted they recived from @dantheman, I came to the conclusion that my solution maybe it's a too much on the socialist side and will probably have unwanted effects as well:
- less mobility from minnow/dolphin to whale status
- less excitement from posting by taking away the " lottery effect" [ a.k.a you can win a jackpot from any post]
- possibility for one, two or more whales to collude in order to obtain the influence they desire anyway!
- maybe even creating a greater gap between who can influence and who can't by taking the power from a benevolent whale and evening out the field, essentially creating a situation in which is easier to be outnumbered/outvoted by evil/nefarious bought in elements.
I was wrong.
[ now I should totally convince those people that they are wrong!!!!!]
How did I come up with the post idea and what does it mean?
I discuss Steemit with friends a lot these days. I am trying to convince them to join this revolutionary platform and we have talks/arguments about its potential, future and the perceived unfairness [ For those whinning, I recommend @cryptogee's rebuke. We tried to image what would happen if a cap would be possible, not in order to limit the potential rewards, everyone loves the rewards!, but in order to limits the power one person can have.
I am thinking along the lines that inone year there will be enough whales and other big fishes swimming in the steemit ocean, that a cap would actually improve fairness and not the other way around.
Now what?!
unexpected twist! - WE ALL WON -
Basically, exactly what happened is what I wanted to see more of: an open discussion, an exchange of ideas, all for bettering Steemit.
A man's thinking evolved [ wink ], another man's brain made a new connection and it will come with a new idea. He will make a great post and bring even more people in the discussion.
That's the path.
We must all resist to create echo-chambers in here or isolate ourselves and be ALWAYS RIGHT. That's how one stagnates.
I was wrong, but I am glad that I was and called out on it. That's how I grow.
This is how I believe Steemit will grow too.

I had to read your post, follow the other post and then read all the comments. After that was done I think this is a great post!
I also think the whales have a mission, with SOME of their Up Votes, to continue to expand the categories. I have seen them post on new categories to continue to build the list. There is a method to their madness, sometimes anyway. And most certainly I think the more time that passes the more other big guys are created. Just not overnight of course....

it's a defeat only when you have your mind closed to other views in my opinion. If anything, i'm too opened to listen...[ ironically ]
Earlier I used to check the earnings on my post and my mind used to freeze when I thought I got underpaid. Now, I just write and NEVER check the earnings, This way I enjoy the writing and after the payout, enjoy whatever I get.

my post wasn't about us being underpaid. I don't complain. I love the rush, the adrenaline and creative energy....it's about always pushing steem forward to this amazing platform we imagine.

In a general sense, I agreed with your last post and disagree with this one. There might be points in each that I like better than others, but overall I found your previous post much more agreeable.
