Why Giving Free Votes To People Is a Bad Practice

I know that I am still fairly new here but I actually spent some time on writing my content and exploring the rest of the website. There are some practices that need to stop if we want this community to be successful. Starting with the "action for vote" system.

Getting free votes is cool and everything but please consider this. People who spend hours on content creation and don't want free uptoves but actually want people who appreciate their content to upvote will grow way slower here and that's just the tip of the iceberg. There is also a lot of garbage content that is just reposted from Reddit or some other website. People who posted that could, for example, do what @berniesanders wrote in this post and get an upvote for complete trash. Now imagine if we had 200 people that do the same favor as @berniesanders. Garbage content will have 200 upvotes while quality content will be burried under a pile of crap. What would be the result of this practice? New users who come to check out this community will find a pile of garbage and go back to 9Gag or something like that because they can have the same garbage there.

Maybe free upvote givers should follow the example of @gogogadget, the only person I found (so far) that actually looks for good content and gives upvotes only if the content is good. I know that a lot of you are here for the money but think about the future of the website. If we fill it up with garbage there will be no one left to upvote your posts and make your money. Please think about this next time you offer someone a free upvote if they tag you in a post or whatever your idea for that day is.

I came here because I found potential and a lot of creative people. Please don't ruin that. Thanks!
