Hello dear steemit community!!

Well! The Stare Miasto of Krakow(the old city) is past of Unesco World Heritage. The main square is Rynek Główny (the main market) one of the largest in Europe. In the middle of the square you have the cloth hall a beautiful example of Renaissance architecture. Merchants stall occupied the central part of the main market since 13th Century. Between 1875 and 1879 the bulding had a modernisation when it gained its arcades. From 1879 became the seat of Krakow branch of the national museum. The last significant restauration was in 2010.

The tower close to the cloth hall it is what remained of the old town hall. Its written record come from 14th century and it was repeatedly rebuilt. In the beginning of 19th century the town hall was demolished by Austrians only the tower survived.

In a corner of the main square is situated the St. Mary Basilica built in 14th Century on the foundation of an old temple. The basilica owns two towers one taller known as “Hejnalica” where every hour the famous bugle-call plays its instrument “hejnal”.

On the north part of the Stare Miasto is situated the famous Barbican and interesting piece of the Gothic defensive architecture erected in the 15th century toghether with the remained walls the three towers and the armoury. The barbican was surrounded by a moat and connected with St. Florians gate by long causeway known as the neck.

Following the royal route towards the Wavel Castle the symbol of Krakow. Inside the fortress there is the archcathedral basilica of Saints Stanislaus and Wenceslaus is located.

The Wavel Hill owns a crown treasure and armory. In addition state rooms, royal private apartments and different exibition.

If you love beer I suggest to you to go C.K Browar the brewery situated very close to the Stare Miasto. In my previous post I mentioned a similar one in Poznan where the beer is very good.

And do not miss Pierogi the dumplings my favorite Polish food

And one of my favorite Polish wodka (very difficult to pronunce its name if you do not know the basic rules of pronunciation in Polish language) .... Traditional Żołądkowa Gorzka!!!

Hope you like and visit it!

Thank you for your attention!

Peace out !!!!

Krakow has always been high on our list for a For 91 Days, Vodka and Pierogi basically seals the deal. And as you show it in your post, it's beautiful too.

Thank you very much I am just curious have you been in Krakow for 91days...... It sounds interesting

Great post man! I was in Krakow at the end of November. Only for few days but i really love this city! Since i didn't have much time to explore it (business trip) i told myself, that that was not the last time i visited Krakow. Really amazing city. And i couldn't believe the sizes of those building. If you just walk around Wavel ... it's quite a walk.

Pierogies are amazing, we took a mix, so we could try each version. I still have a bottle of Żubrówka in my minibar :)

Thanks a lot! I am glad you love Krakow ! That was my second time ( I lived years ago in Erasmus in Poznan) I am sure I will visit again in the future! You did a very good choice to try each version my favorite is the one with meat and the one with cabbage and mushrooms!

Yes the cabbage one was quite a surprise for us.

We were also lucky to get the Christmas markets. And we tried the food there. It was amazing. Cheap street food but really nice. Sausages, pork legs, black pudding, ... The only problem was, that it was freaking cold outside! :)

I see! It is usual in november and december ! I was lucky I was in Poznan during new year's eve weekend and I did not find that cold as I expected! Did you try Grzane Wino (Mulled Wine) ?

Yeah we did, but we are used to it in Slovenia so it wasn't much of a difference for us. The biggest attraction were those little barrel houses where they were selling it. The line for it was really long. And we saw a lot of people buying the wine and walking straight back to the line :) Until they'll be back in front of the line, they'll drink their wine. Perfect to get a new round. hehe

BTW: We didn't know about the trumpet guy. And first time we heard it. It was like ... huuuh? Where is that sound coming? Only at second full hour we saw something moved almost at the top of the tower. Really cool!

Yes the Hejnal is a great attraction as well as a nice tradition I am glad that you enjoyed ! I just realized now that you're from Slovenia definetely another beautiful country I have been to your capital Bled, Bohinj . I did not know you had also a similar mulled wine. Maybe because I visited your country during the summer season :)

There is a cafe near me in Australia that is owned by a Polish woman and her Pierogi is enough to make me want to visit, but your post has just confirmed it!

Is Borsch & Wodka in chapel street Melbourne ? I remember it because when I lived in that city I used to go there sometimes!

No its not but I'll keep that place in mind. It is in Sydney, and is not even a Polish restaurant just the owner sometimes adds some Polish dishes to the specials

I see that's sounds interesting I did not meet many Polish in Sydney where I lived during my second year Working holiday visa. Most of them I supposed they live in Melbourne. Anyway I am glad you like Polish food !
