2017 in Review – My Success Story - Thank you Steemit Followers and Supporters

in #steemit7 years ago

Wow, wow, wow!  What else can I say? 2017 has been an awesome year for me here on Steemit.  Actually not even a year as I only joined Steemit in July and boy has it been a roller coaster ride.

To all of my followers, 1611 of you, thank you.  Thank you for your resteems.  Thank you for your votes, thank you for your comments.

To @stellabelle.  You have made my growth on Steemit happen. For those of you that do not know @stellabelle delegated 20K SP to me on the 28th October. This was then followed by @fulltimegeek also delegating me 20K SP on the 19th October.

Thank you so so much @fulltimegeek and @stellabelle.  It is people like you that will make Steemit succeed. It is people like you that give me faith in human kindness.  I wish you both a very merry Christmas and best fortune in 2018.

Having this delegation has made me want to succeed and since receiving it, I have spent every spare hour writing posts, comments, voting and working behind the scenes helping other out.  Below, you will find data on my activity, both before delegation and after.  I hope you consider it used well.

I started on Steemit writing posts about Excel.  Before Steemit, that’s what I did, blogged about Excel and Power BI.  These posts were not doing too well and then I came across a post by  @arcange  and the Steemsql database. This is when things on Steemit began to change for me.  I now had a data source the Steemit community cared about.  So instead of blogging about Excel and Power BI, I used it to report on Steemit.

Now here on Steemit I have a community of Excel, PowerBI and Data enthusiastics. All interested in the same stuff as me.  A community I have helped to develop by giving access to online training courses for free, by setting up and managing a discord server, and running a weekly contest to reward the effort of those also analysing the Steemit Block chain data.

I am also an active and vested member of @Steemitbc, another community aimed at helping others succeed on steemit.  A big shout out to @rt365 for all the work and effort he has put into this community.

Before I present the data on my posts, I have two further communities to thank. I would like to thank @minnowsupport and whaleshares.  Both of which have help me in more than one way here on Steemit.

So now for the data – 2017 in review

Posts and Comments

In total I have made 184 posts (185 with this one) and left 1833 comments for 719 different authors

Pre Delegation

In the 138 days on Steemit before I received the delegation, I wrote 134 posts and 1245 comments

Post Delegation

In the 54 days since received the delegation I have made 50 posts and left 588 comments on 281 different author’s posts and comments.

The average number of comments left a day increase from 9 before delegation to 12 after delegation

Resteems

Resteems before Delegation

Resteems after delegation

137 resteems in 138 days pre delegation. Let’s just call it 1 resteem a day before delegation.  After delegation this increased to 1.4 resteems a day after delegation

Voting Data

Below are details of my voting before getting the delegation.  In total I made 9183 votes to 2676 different authors.  The major spikes in voting related to following minnowsupport trail and greatly obscures my curation as all other votes are manual.  Looking at the data approx. 7000 of these votes were not manual votes

Of the 9183 votes give 140 of these were self-votes.  However to get a more accurate comparison figure,  we can take my manual votes for the time frame to be 2183 and so the % of votes that were self-votes was 6.4%.

2183 votes over 138 day’s averages at 15.8 votes a day.

Because the auto voting distorts the graph, here is a zoom on of daily voting in Sept

Next are my details of voting after delegation

We can see I went on a little bit of a voting bender when I got the delegation.  I remember seeing it and going straight to the Introduction tag.  I really enjoyed it.

Over the 50 days since getting the delegation I have voted 1745 time for 672 different authors.  That is an average of 35 votes a day.  Of this I have self-voted 84 times.  This is 5% of my votes.

Other interesting growth data

Above is my follower growth taken from steemdb.com

Below is my estimated worth on Steemit taken from steemwhales.com

Finally, my wallet – awesome earnings in 192 days.  This is a Steemit success story.

Conclusion

I have had an awesome time on Steemit and I have made many new friends along the way.  Some joined Steemit way before I came along, some at the same time and some way after.  Everything we do on the blockchain can be check and tracked.  The data is there for you to look at yourself.

If it wasn’t for the support of my followers the success I have had would not be possible.  Happy Christmas to each and every one of you and best wishes for the New Year.

2018 is a new year, and I plan on working more on steemit to grow my account, my reputation and my SP.  You can read about some of my plans here

Cheers,
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

thank you very much, may 2018 bring you all the joy in the world

Congrats @paulag
For coming this far successfully, must have taken some doing. It's great how you can look back at all you've done so far without any shame because you know you played your path and a rummage through the stats won't reveal any skeletons.

Seasons greetings! I wish you more success in the near future.

#thumbsup

thank you and happy christmas

Congrate's on all your work to achieve this. Still not really understanding it at all myself. I don't think is for someone like me, I am not a writer nor do I Blog, I love to share the photo's of my flowers I grow. anyway Congrate's again.

Congratulations for your achievements in 2017 and wish you good luck for 2018. You rightly said it is the reward that fill a person with enthusiasm and determination. I thank you for your support to steeamian's community and your followers.

best of luck to you too in 2018...it will be a good year for everyone on steemit

Congratulations on your success on Steemit, @paulag! You've done a lot of work with the blockchain data. And you've revealed things that would have stayed hidden otherwise. I know I've come to think of Steemit differently because of your analyses. Here's to a great 2018 for you on Steemit. I'd like to see some step-by-step posts about how we can analyze our own work without being a whiz at PowerBI. Thanks.

@haphazard-hsted I hope that 'differently' is a good thing. Steemit is an awesome platform with awesome people and holds so much potiental

Yes, I think of Steemit in a more positive light when I see how networks of curators can have little overlap. And in improving my own voting practices. But your posts showing how folks were selling upvotes or being involved in vote exchanges caused some negative thinking about Steemit, too. I've appreciated your posts where you assess your own statistics -- those have me thinking more positively about Steemit, for sure.

Wow! Nothing more beautiful than woman with stats!!! :D

Your story is very inspiring to me, im running on my 2nd month and mine is not doing as good as you all guys, there are still somethings that I dont understand.. Like the delegation, what does it do and how it helps you and others, I hope I can be like you in the future...

in month 2 I was also not doing that well. Give it time :-)

Delegation is when someone allows someone else control their SP. I was given Steem power (SP) however I do not own it, so i cant sell it, I can just use it to upvote others and spread the joy

wow... the guys who give it to you are very generous, although I know that you cannot sell it, it still an act of kindness.. With that SP given to you, you are able to influence votes since you can give more points in your upvotes, where can I borrow SP too so I can upvotes people like you and the beginners like me?

Congrats @paulag, you are a STEEM success story and a leader on the platform /// All the best for 2018 ,,, STEEM ON (-:

thank you very much @clumsysiverdad happy christmas to you and your family

We'll done. That quite the responsibility with a delegation of the size. Congrats on welding it wisely and widely. Love the blockchain BI focus. Hope to be able to contribute soon. All the best in the new year.

looking forward to seeing your contribution
