Day 2 of my #audaciousmarch wraps up with a bit less enthusiasm and bravado. I’m not discouraged. Everything ebbs and flows. And I still have 29 days left to be audacious.

I’m not going to whine or complain. But I will report my challenges. Because I believe it’s important to chronicle this journey. Nothing good ever happens without obstacles, setbacks, hurdles, and even failures.

Here are some of the things that were challenging for me today:

  • I received far less engagement today than yesterday. This shouldn’t be surprising. There are plenty of reasons why this could be. And of course I’m not the center of the universe. But let’s be honest: it’s a bit of a letdown when things ebb.

  • Several missed connections with people I’m look to for support. They will happen. When they happen. But this did slow me down a bit today.

  • I’m having the rude awakening that Steemit is a lot more vast and wide than I’d been aware of. Scouring for posts to upvote and resteem as well as people to follow has opened my eyes. This makes me feel smaller, more insignificant. But it also brings great hope. There’re are so many people here to support...and from who to we can all receive support as well.

  • Popularity Syndrome: It’s part of life. And I’ve been on both sides of the equation. But it can be discouraging to see that quality of content is not the driving force behind Steemit success. And while this isn’t news to me, I’m seeing it more clearly as I step further outside of myself and read so many posts.

These are simply realities I will need to address and adjust to. It ain’t no thing!

So now for my accomplishments:

  • I followed 26 fellow Steemians
  • I made 7 responses to comments on my posts
  • I made 12 comments on other people’s posts
  • I Upvoted 25 Times
  • I entered 4 contests
  • I created 2 new posts
  • I resteemed 3 posts

Now I’m going to eat a cupcake and take a bubble bath.

Thank you guys for coming along for the ride!

Day 1 Roundup
My Game-plan

Sort:

Okay, well I'm going to weigh in with my thoughts. You can only set goals for yourself but you can't expect direct results from that because you can't manage other people and their expectations. You may get down when you don't see results, but you can't actually plan for those results. All you can do is set personal goals and achieve them - but, and this is sobering, the results don't always follow. It sucks, but that's life.

On steemit your 'regulars' make take a week off or be busy with other stuff - of course, you have few followers and your results fall off even though you're producing excellent work. You need to remind yourself that results don't always follow actions. Just work on improving and learning.

"The lyfe so short, the craft so long to lerne", Geoffrey Chaucer,

This I know, John. Yet my heart doesn’t always match my head. I’m truly approaching this with the intention of no expectations. But despite my best efforts, I’m only human. I’m also used to being the most special animal in the zoo - or at least one of them. Not immediately, of course. And not without monumental efforts. But it truly is sobering to be such a tiny minnow...and for so long.

I appreciate the level set and words of wisdom.

If I may point out one problem I have: I decided to regularly support a handful of minnows and randomly support a few others. But now that most people are posting every day, and many twice a day, I'm having to give smaller votes in order to keep my voting power above 75% to give reasonable-sized upvotes. So people posting twice a day get smaller votes and I give full upvotes to the infrequent posters. I couldn't think of any other way to do this, because the more people you follow, the more you see that you want to vote on but there's no point, in my eyes, of giving minnows 2c upvotes on their content that they work so hard on. I like to vote and comment so as to build relationships with the people whose work I like. So I tend to hunker down and keep it small. This is one drawback I find. Communities can't come fast enough for me

This is a seriously good point and one I’ve already begun mulling over. I cannot do 25 upvotes a day and have them be even mildly substantial. I’m going to modify that metric. Thank you!

As for your continued support of me - of which I cannot express to you how much I appreciate - I’m fine if you pick just one of my posts per day to upvote. Or less of you need to. I’m trying to do two a day mostly so I can do these summary posts to hold myself accountable and hopefully help and inspire at least one person out there. I have long since seen the wisdom and strategy of one daily post. Until I have a gazillion followers, anyway. 🤪

Hmm, on that note: given that steemit has a 10% user retention rate, a gazillion followers doesn't actually amount to much. We need communities badly

We do. You seem to have created the perfect balance.

You are so audacious even though you had a meh day. I can relate to a number of your points especially number 1 and the last one. You're doing it and that's all that matters. It will come together and you'll be more audacious than you could ever imagine.

You'll have so many people to reply to you won't know what to do and the rewards will get steadier and steadier.

Enjoy your cupcake and bubble bath. I'm going to la la land.

I soooo needed to wake up to this. Thank you❣️

Nice post sir thanks for sharing..
