Let the Charity Contest Begin!

The Rules

  • Create a Fundraising Post on your blog and post a link to it in the comments below (thus officially entering the Charity Contest). All contestants have five days – June 19th to 23th to submit their Fundraising Posts in the comments below. Of course, all kinds of comments are welcome, not just the official submissions of Fundraising Posts.

(to make it easier for me to keep track of all the contestants, please tag your Fundraising Post with a charitycontest tag; it doesn’t have to be the first tag, however)

  • The Fundraising Post on your blog should present a charity for which you want to raise funds and to which you will eventually donate the funds raised. It can be an entire organisation, or a particular campaign it’s running at the moment, or a contribution to a fundraising goal it’s currently trying to reach. You have full creative freedom in how you may choose to present your favourite charity or cause. To name just a few, it could be a video, a cartoon, an informative text with pictures, a piece of infographics, a poem or a song you composed, a story you’ve written – well, anything that communicates the charity’s main purpose or the issue they are working on and calls your followers to action.

  • All submitted ideas will automatically enter competition for the Community Award. The winner will be decided by the greatest number of upvotes that the comment with a link to a Fundraising Post will get (please note that upvotes received by comments on that comment will not count). The winning comment will receive the entire SBD payout that this post earns.

  • Authors of the participating Fundraising Posts will try to solicit donations (in STEEM and SBD) and upvotes from members of the Steem Community as well as people outside of it. The more people upvote your post and donate to your cause, the more your charity will earn, when it’s time to donate to it (see the next point below). And the more people upvote your Fundraising Post and send you donations, the more chances you get to win one of the three Main Prizes.

  • Once you have received payout for your Fundraising Post (usually 7 days after having posted it on your blog) you are expected to make a donation to the charity you have been promoting in your post. Your donation doesn’t have to be the exact sum total of your Fundraising Post’s payout and all the donations you will have received. It’s actually better if your donation is greater than that sum, because it’s the amount of your donation that will determine one of the three winners, and not your Fundraising Post’s payout by itself.

  • Within the three days after receiving payout for your Fundraising Post you’ll have to submit proof of donation in the comment to your post and in the comment to your contest entry below. It can be a payment slip, a screenshot of your Internet bank transfer order, screenshot of a confirmation of donation from your charity, receipt of a tax-exemption on your donation (if you’re in the US) or any other proof of similar nature. The amount you donated should be clearly visible on the proof you submit.

  • Three days after the last entry’s payout three winners who have donated the most will be determined and announced on my blog. The first prize is 25 SBD, the second is 15 SBD, and the third is 10 SBD. The prizes are courtesy of @papa-pepper, who generously decided to fund this contest.

Questions, requests for clarification? Leave them in the comments and I’ll be happy to answer them to the best of my abilities.

Ready to go ahead and participate? You have five days (until Friday midnight, Pacific Standard Timezone aka California time) to create a Fundraising Post on your blog and submit your entry in the comments below (don’t forget to provide a link to your post and tag it with charitycontest).

I can’t wait to see all your brilliant ideas to mobilise Steemians to help make the world a better place!!

Great.I was thinking about making a post for donations for my little cousin. She is going to have heart surgery in upcoming month most probably.

You should definitely make a post about your cousin’s situation and ask people to upvote and donate! I hope that the surgery goes well and I wish your little cousin a speedy recovery and a long healthy life ahead!

However, this contest is only for registered charities (as in, organisations and campaigns), not for personal or family-related fundraising purposes. Having said this, I’m still going to support and upvote your post, even though it cannot participate in this contest. Good luck!

Oh ok.So maybe i should wait to let this contest over then i will publish my post because in between the time of this contest many of users will participate and my chance for getting donations will be reduced. My cousin is my love. She is having heart surgery second time and it's the most difficult one and she is only 4 years old.

And thank you soo much for your love.

Thank you soo much.

Hi @hammadakhtar, ADRA is the first big international NGO to join Steemit. We started yesterday the efforts to better organize support for people in need on Steemit. Before posting your call for donation please make sure to contact our moderator @dinoo on steemit.chat (same name there), so we can help you prove your call is legit and promote your cause. Please read our introduction post and follow: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@adra/are-you-ready-to-bring-charity-to-blockchain-hello-this-is-adra-germany-calling-member-of-a-global-ngo-network

I take it that Dr. Evil's Virtucon doesn't count as a charity for these purposes?

Haha, well, it could be, you never know! ;))

Thank you @oleg326756 for pointing us here! @adra just joined Steemit yesterday as first bigger international charity organization. Please check our introduction post as submission to this contest. We want to establish a system to support charitable causes on Steemit and need as much ideas and suggestions as possible about how to get this to work and people following, so we can organize a bigger impact for everyone. Dear @adra,

Your Fundraising Post has just received a payout: 53.682 SBD and 25.347 STEEM POWER. Since you have been fundraising on your own behalf, you obviously cannot make a donation to yourself. Therefore I am noting the amount of your payout as your result in this Charity Contest. We will have to wait another two days, until the other two participants have received their payouts and/or made their donations. Then I will compare all the payouts/donations and proclaim the three contest winners.

Since we have only had three contestants this time, all three will win something. The only question is who will get the first prize, the second, and the third.

Please let me know if you have any questions. And very well done – good luck!

Thank you, our first SP to increase upvotes. And yes, it is very exciting to receive the first sizable payout. Last week was SO busy, we have to be active here more in posting news.

That is what I like it here the most. The positive atmosphere. People are actually helping each other. Steemit is quite protected against negative flow. @adra, let's succeed!

This kinda stuff happening here on Steemit is so cool.. I wish I was a bit further down the road, with my 16 followers after 2 days I wont stand a chance I'm afraid.

But just wait until I get up to steem...!! ^x^

Good luck and great success wished to all contestants!

Well, even a “newbie’s” post can go viral and get many upvotes, if people start resteeming it, sharing it with their own followers. I saw it happen before with interesting, original, high-quality posts. So why not give it a try, @rudenblom? Also, participating in this contest will give you exposure to many new people, outside of your own followers’ circle. This can be your chance to grow the number of your followers and do something good for the world at the same time!

Ok, ok, a hopeful and plausible argument. I'll think of a cause that I'd wanna give attention to! Thans Oleg!

following you Ruben!

I would like to enter with a post to support the Papillon foundation but i ama newbie ad i have no clue if my old Tsu friend Stephen is here too 😂 But i guess that doesn't really matter. He does such gr8 work in south Africa for the poorest among the poor!

It's a great idea!! You should definitely write a post about the Papillon Foundation! I haven't heard about it before, so I'm sure that many people here on Steemit will find your post interesting and will learn something new from it. Please do! :)

Dear @dutchess,

Your Fundraising Post has just received a payout: 3.634 SBD and 1.734 STEEM POWER. These numbers are only indicative of where you stand in the Charity Contest, compared to the other contestants. In order for your entry to count, you are now supposed to make a donation to your chosen charity (The Papillon Foundation). The easiest way to do so might be if you donate STEEM and/or SBD to @papilloncharity. The amount of your donation will be your actual score in this Charity Contest. Please let me know when you’ve paid your donation to @papilloncharity and I will note your result.

We will then have to wait for two more days, until the last participant will have received payout for their Fundraising Post. Then I will compare all the payouts/donations and proclaim the three contest winners.

Since we have only had three contestants this time, all three will win something. The only question is who will get the first prize, the second, and the third.

Please let me know if you have any questions. And very well done – good luck!

Oh its a bit blurry to me! I pay them the amount the post made, isnt it?

Well, it's up to you, really. It can be more, or less, or exactly the same. The greater the amount of your donation, the higher chance you have to win a bigger prize. Good luck!

@oleg326756 i made the transfer(25 std to @papilloncharity) made a screen print but i dont know how to upload that in a comment 🤔
Maybe you can check it in my wallet......?

Yes, it’s fine, I will simply check your wallet and it will a sufficient proof. It’s on blockchain, after all! :D

Very well done, @dutchess! I am also happy that @papilloncharity has benefitted from this contest! Thank you for your participation, your effort and your generousity!

Oh, and by the way, I hope you transferred SBD. No one would be happy to get even 1 STD, much less 25 difference ones! LMAO :'-D

Wow, what a fantastic organisation – and great pictures to accompany the post about it, @dutchess! Thank you for participating and good luck!

Mmm, actually, you need to submit a link to your Fundraising Post in the comments of this post and tag your Fundraising Post with charitycontest Then you are in officially. ;)

Please check the rules of the contest in the post above. Let me know if you have any questions regarding it.

I guess I have done it all since.

No, because there's no comment from you with a link under this post. Or can you please point me to it, if I'm mistaken? Otherwise you'll have to comment under this post with a link to your own post, presenting your project or campaign. Please let me know if any of the rules in the post above are not clear.

Hi again @oleg326756. I acutally did it HERE like this (I though that is the right place, so it is not?): Hello @papa-pepper, i love your ideas. Thank you for this opportunity. We have actually started one fundraising yesterday (anyway - all our posts are fundraising:) to raise awareness about the necessity to save our precious nature through the most popular sport in Africa - Football. We are just launching Football4Nature - Conservation Champions League to save Abongphen Highland Forest.

Dear @kedjom-keku,

Your Fundraising Post has just received a payout: 6.541 SBD and 3.430 STEEM POWER. Since you have been fundraising on your own behalf, you obviously cannot make a donation to yourself. Therefore I am noting the amount of your payout as your result in this Charity Contest. I am going to announce the three winners shortly in a separate post, so stayed tune!

And, since we have only had three contestants this time, all three will win something. The only question now is who will get the first prize, the second, and the third.

Please let me know if you have any questions. And very well done – good luck!

Great! Welcome to the contest and good luck! :)
