400 Milestone Report
Intro
@jatinhota had, what seemed to me, a great idea of turning follower milestones into Update Reports. In that tradition here is my personal update.
Followers
My increase in followers is probably due to me putting my one cent's worth into many of the threads on my feed. It is certainly not because of my infrequent blog postings.
Background Projects
About a month ago other ways than blogging were explored as a means to contribute and grow within the community. Those thoughts are still perculating about while the coding skills are aquired; having never tried python before now.
A little project of handy steem links was placed online. Finding steemprojects made me wonder if my list was truly needed. That thought is on hold at the moment, as is the Perl script to automate submissions for the list.
While researching steem bots for an idea to bring voter awareness to steem users, the thought of setting up a witness server was explored.
After battling through countless outdated guides of how to setup a witness server things started to move forward with the help of @throwawayaccount and @gtg.
The very day that @gtg's link to a download of the steem blockchain was found was the same day last week that many of the witness nodes, with under 32 GB of RAM, started missing blocks.
The average user may have noted a lot of lag. Blocks were being missed throughtout the witness network. It was made perfectly clear that my 16 GB of RAM was not going to cut it as a witness server and maybe the difficulty of finding an up-to-date guide was the universe talking to me again. A RAM arms race is not my vision of making it to the top.... 100? 😎
Since then my attention has returned to bot research while making plans with my son-in-law to build the perfect Witness Box, while keeping an eye out for talk of an upcoming fork which will handle scalability better than the present version.
Thoughts on Steem Developments
My view of the steem blockchain is a bit like my views of usernet back in the 90's. Although it is not my thing to wear or see other men wear nylons, it felt right that those that did had a place to show off. They had their 'Group' and my configuration was not subscribed or whatever it was called... it's been a while.
In the same form of censoring On Ramp Admins (did a bit of that) could tailor the usernet feed so as to share or not share certain 'Groups'.
My guess is that the steem blockchain is approaching the same configurability.
Condenser Nodes
The condenser node setups has my interest. May go down that route instead of a witness.
They can be configured for 'bad actors' for example and run their own forks for display. They could become an oasis against spam and scams over time. Those secret or exclusive pools where big upvotes hang out. 😎
Bots on the mind
There is a bot idea in the back of my mind to get a harmless handle on the workings of bots and familiarity with python. It is too good an idea, in its own right, to mention right now yet that is where my steem time will be spent in the near future. Hopefully it will make it to production over the summer.
Bicycle VLOG
My bicycle phone rack arrived from Amazon last week. The plan is to vlog my bicycle journeys this summer as warned in my intro. 😎
Looks like all of my noob intro plans are taking shape.
400 thanks!
It feels like things are just starting.

Looking forward to the bike vlogs and if you need a tester for anything, I know a guy...lol
Thanks Papa. There will be need of testing and you do have proven testing cred. 😎
Will drop you an email when things get to the testing stage.
