Steemit Tips And Posting Guidelines For Newbies And The Experienced (Not Rules)

in #steemit8 years ago

As a follow up (update) to my last post which you can see here I have added some new information and I have updated my wording which seemed to cause a little bit of negativity the last time round, if I can make a suggestion that the admins or @dan @ned could consider adding guidlines to the steemit interface which I am sure will help everyone.

As far as I know there are no rules in steemit, so the information below only serves only as guide so you may have a pleasurable experience :)

The Guidelines

In Order to help everyone, below is a list of guidelines that I have managed to put together from various run in's either with admins or users and even landing on posts with the guideline that had been mentioned in their comments which kind of makes a person look bad especially when it has been unintentional.

The following will hopefully prevent you from getting flagged which may prevent others from seeing your post

Guidelines below

  • You should attempt to not post more than 4 times a day.
  • You should not put images in your comments on posts or custom signatures. (I transgressed on this big time)
  • You should not link to your page from a comment unless it is relevant to the post where the comment is placed.
  • You should not use images in your post that you do not own or have the right to use, where you do have permission to use these images a credit link to the source must be placed.
  • You should not repost either yours or the posts of others.
  • Your content should be unique as possible and written by yourself not plagiarized from the internet.
  • Should you use your content elsewhere a link should be placed in your post to the other external website and from the external website back to your post so you are not tapped on the hand by cheetah (bot).
  • You Should tag your post to the correct relevant categories.

Tips

  • You can use Imgsafe.or tinypic.com or many other free image hosting services to upload your photos or images to.
  • Free Images / photos can be found at websites like pixabay.com or freeimages.com
  • Only publish good quality content.
  • Try not to just post just a image and nothing else, tell your audience a little about the image.
  • Get involved and chatting in the steemit chat rooms

Please let me know if there are any other rules that anyone knows of.

Not sure how to word this but I might add, before posting, mentally prepare yourself to receive direct feedback from an intelligent, critical, and diverse community. Feedback may come in the form of compliments, criticism or silence. Be thoughtful in what message you want to express, and respectful for your audience's time and attention.

Oops, I should have read this before posting images in a comment just a minute ago...

lol its only a guide but be weary
