RE: Could Steemit Be a Conduit For Local Giving? Could We Be A Fundraising Community ?

in #steemit8 years ago

I've been using my personal account for initiatives like #payitforward to help benefit the people of Steemit who need a boost. When it comes to fundraising for an organization, most of them require that you give them notice and get permission because you are using their name and fund-raising on their behalf. Before you begin an account or take one cent, be sure they know what you're doing or they will come after you. Secondly, do your research. Most national charities use more than half of their fund-raising monies for "administrative costs" and the effort for which they are being "charitable" receive pennies on the dollar.

Oh god yeah....i understand the administration charges. I managed a lottery fund for a while. I'm thinking for local on the ground initiatives, not just tied to one, so i am thinking more likely to develop funds on posts then distribute rather than on behalf of. If that makes sense?
