No doubt the attempt here is to make a product that can appeal to the masses. It's does not take much imagination to think about the fact that not all participants of Steem are writers. Hence, the creation of other platforms to be able to accommodate the different types of users, is probably the best way to grow the platform and the valuation of the currency.

However...

Regardless of how difficult it could be to discuss the definition of proof of brain in detail, the one thing that we should be able to agree on is "what its not!" - Meaning, that in no contorted way of any logic elasticity I can find a justification to say that - "Sharing random links is proof of brain" - Since that task can be completely automated even with by a very clumsy programmer.

Proof of Brain - Blue Paper

Not that I believe in White Papers or in this case the Blue Paper being some sort of constitution. But, it proposes the following.

mechanisms for establishing and evaluating content’s social value: we call this “Proof-of-Brain.”

To me the collection of words - "content's social value" - pretty much dimisses link sharing all together, but maybe my personal opinion is not too relevant. I hope however, the community is inclined to see my point.

If content on steem is nothing other than an exact copy or even worse a link to another social platform, then the value of the content should be as valuable as a cheap chinese knock off. There is nothing too outrageous about that statement.

Furthermore the Cut

15% Steems to be extremely steep, almost insultingly so. A platform that performs a task that possibly no one needed, as to create some sort of ethical justification for low effort, is also going to cut into the profits of the very people is supposed to help?

It sounds to me like inverted robinhoodery to be honest.

So, I will ask again... How does this help Steem grow?

Will it incentivize people to power up? Will it bring new investment? Will investors see this "revolutionary link sharing system" and think... "yes... i need to buy this token" ?

As a stake holder of the platform I would like to know what was the rationale behind this project, because to me it makes very little sense.
