Steemit will improve user retention by increasing the number of Whales.

Right now aside from Youtube personalities and the smartest/luckiest Steemians it is unlikely your "just for the heck of it" blog will get any attention. Yes you can still make money curating but even that requires some SP. Some people will continue to Steemit through the high marketcaps and the low marketcaps but if the average Joe is what we are looking for, we need more whales. We need a more diverse group of whales simply because everyone up votes what THEY like, and everyone's tastes are different. Even before you get to the need for more personality types and demographics among whales. 30 whales multiplied by 40 votes = 1200 whale votes a day. I doubt any of the whales actually vote 40 times per day though. so that doesn't leave many whale votes to go around. If Steemit gains the kind of following I know it can, I will be an "Average Joe" whale and the whales of today will be known as Mega Whales or Space Whales. The new Average Joe whales can then give Steemit what it is sorely missing. A middle class. Even If I had every minnow on here now up-vote me it probably would not count for a single @ned vote. That will not be true once anybody with a few thousand followers is making decent Steem due to the followers votes being worth more than a fraction of a cent. It is a competition though. Every vote given to someone is a vote not given to you. The more accounts getting 300 up-votes per post. the less 300 up-votes per post will be worth, The new bar for greatness would be set at 1000 or higher as the competition raged on. Unless the marketcap increased enormously. Then we could see a new Golden age like when Steem was at 4 dollars and people couldn't figure out why everyone was raking in the dough. It is because the marketcap was huge causing the algorithm to allocate more total Steem. Since the users did not increase at the same pace as the marketcap we all were making "extra" Steem. I think Steem has a few more of these "Golden ages" ahead of it.

We can live in hope, one day I will be a whale :)

Agree wholeheartedly. I've resteemed your post. There should a fast-track way to become a dolphin at least for those of us without much capitol or social media influence.

Interesting post I think if steems worth would go up it would be alot easier for average folks to grow but atm its very difficult and where is everybody again tonight as theres hardly any votes going on. Cool space whale and upvoted.

Simple.
We need to attract more users and we can all become a legend in our own minds.
