This is not the decentralized and distributed system they describe in the white paper, because, as of this writing, the gate keepers are those with the steem power to prevent others from ever even reaching that level. The only way this could be fixed would be for someone to buy in with more steem than the larger whales to unseat them. If this is Dan's vision of an alternative economy, it looks suspiciously like the American and world economies we already face, where the rules protect wealth and the wealthy are the only ones with access to the rule makers.
