6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You a Better Person. And All of Us...

The article "6 Harsh Truths That Will Make You a Better Person" by David Wong (link) has got 24 million views, 825K likes, and more than 12K comments.

Things that author talks about cause embarrassment, protest, indignation. But it also makes you understand that what he talks about could actually help us to become better, more useful and successful. Perhaps, this is exactly what we need right now as a community.

I am interested to study the communities' creation and evolution that is why I am so excited and inspired of being in focus watching the Steemit development. And I will be glad if I can make any contribution to formation of solid basis for our community.

There is always critical mass of participants in a solid community, who accept its idea and goals. Perhaps, the idea described in the article, will be one of the key ideas in our community and I will be glad if you share your opinion in the comments.

If you still did not manage to get credit on Steemit, maybe after reading this article you would be able to change your attitude, improve your posts and steal a way into hearts of all Steemians.

Below I will share my conclusions which I made from the article in relation to Steemit, and I hope they will be useful to you. But before we continue, I recommend you to read the article anyway. And even if you happen to read it before, I would recommend reading it again. I am glad that I read it 4 times when I was writing this post.

Make yourself comfortable, bring a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the reading (link).

I want to share 4 main conclusions that I made with you:

1. Imagine that you are a guy with a penknife, and Steemit is a bleeding victim from that story.

Community craves for good authors and their awesome articles. Community craves for loyal evangelists who understand the idea's revolutionism of Steemit and pass it to other people.

It is good that such authors and amazing posts appear every day, but along with that we see many people coveting quick profit, so they fill the community with nagging, plagiarism, they try to deceive others and make money with little effort.

2. Which wolf do you feed?

Many people know the brilliant story of two wolves.

You can be upset and angry that your posts have not been seen, but try to think if it makes any sense. We are all human, and I was upset too when nobody noticed my first posts. But it is important not to stick to this sate for a long time.

If you are the kind of person who begins criticizing, whining and complaining about this, then stop doing it. Instead, I advise you to get angry and write the best post you have ever done.

The difference of the two positions — offense against motivation — mainly determines whether you succeed in this world or not.

3. When criticizing, offer

Written above does not mean that we should get rid of the criticism. Constructive criticism helps us to become better. If you are unhappy with something, then offer your solutions to those issues. No offers? Then play by the rules you have been given. Criticism without offering alternatives creates nothing but negative background.

4. Create additional value

Before publishing a post consider what benefits you want to give people and the community. Do you want to pass useful information, tell a fascinating and inspiring story, share valuable experience, cheer and entertain a reader?

Only by creating content useful for other participants you will seek recognition.

5. Become the best version of yourself

You cannot influence on other people's votes. It is important to understand and accept it. There are only 2 things you can control that will help you become more successful on Steemit.

Firstly, your skills to create content: good texts, photos, videos. Try to make your every new post your personal achievement. Look for materials that will help you to create the best contest. You cannot do it on your own, can you? Involve you friends, family in it or hire a professional.

It is not enough to just write a good post. The majority of successful authors in any platform (Steemit, YouTube, Twitter, etc.) make significant efforts to be noticed.

Now it is a thousand times easier to become popular on Steemit rather than on any other platform. It is simple, we are just 46 thousand now, and any other popular media platform has millions of users. On Steemit you need to do your best for 1-2 weeks and you will be noticed, on another platform it will take you ages to achieve a result. If you do not do it now, in a year you will be kicking yourself.

While promoting try not to overdo it; do not push things too far that will make your a spammer and troublesome fly.

I will appreciate if you share your thoughts about this article in the comments. I hope this article was useful for you and wish you luck on Steemit.

The #steemit promise of earning rewards for posting is one that many people has taken superficially. The lack of deeper understanding of how #steemit works is one factor that people whine and complain about.

And I WAS no exception!

It's like, "hey go to college, get a degree, and you will be successful in life!" cliche. And there are some truths in that. The keyword is "some". That means it doesn't always work. It is only the "first" step.

And in #steemit, there are many "first steps". Then there are "second steps". Then there are "baby steps".

Posts that got so much attention, I do not consider LUCKY. They are a product of the author's craftiness, creativity, wit, right timing, knowing what tickles the human mind, knowing "where to tap".

I advise you to get angry and write the best post you have ever done.

Thanks for this great advise! I totally agree with you. I have litereally gotten angry and told myself that the next post will be better than the last.

We cannot allow ourselves to be defined by the upvotes we get or NOT get for our posts. We can only define ourselves by conquering our own limitations.

Of course there is luck involved, but that's no excuse for not trying. The writers who've made the most money here have failed a bunch of times already.

Sometimes while i post a blog i think whale swims by and says this.

funny picture :)

This article is very accourate. I think it's important to share much content not pushing things too far. And yes it's true that steemit is the platform where one can gain most success in a short time.

Only by creating content useful for other participants you will seek recognition.

At this stage at least, this is not 100% true. But it might one day be. The factors for upvoting are kind of mixed-up right now because there are other priorities (like expanding the platform demographics) which are running in parallel with maximizing readers entertainment.

Brilliant post! A good framework for upcoming writers looking to contribute to Steem community.

I will be featuring you post today :)

I agree with you @lehard, when I started posting content on steemit all of them were not noticed. I have problem with writing and it makes me sick knowing that I wanted to post to steemit so I can start earning with it. After a month my post starts to get notice and that is the post I made few hours ago. The post tells about how disappointed I am that nobody notice my post.
