Dan is not here anymore, he is with EOS. Smart contract without enforcement, not sure how that works... too many Steemians do not like enforcement. Dan even goes as far as an agreement you have to follow, no active enforcement through non technical channels. Idealistic view far from what the reality is.

Yes I am aware of this general views and more or less I agree. Nonetheless we are talking about the viability of the platform here.

Had those discussion with witnesses abit tim and so on... Also, I know some companies doing behavioural analyses on data, and incorporate more and more human behaviour detection, but Steemit Inc is still trying to solve scalability of their software and blockchain, there no chance such detection systems will come on the roadmap soon!

And even then!? Technology wil not solve all the issues... So we have to think of different ways to implement the right rules!

maybe forks with different rules for each version? People can decide which one to follow.

I'm not following you, how will this prevent bots from any of those forks? If this is not possible technically and you do not want human like cultural chance 'indoctrination' and enforcement of rules? How will bots prevention be solved?

Intermittent rules that bots cannot fake. e.g page scrolling lock (has to be done manually) or perhaps a simple captcha.

Catcha will not work at all, when introduced Steemit will be out of Steemians in no time, you will do a captcha for each vote you want to cast? page scroll lock, not sure what that is, but seems to be bringing user experience down as well, same result as with the captcha maybe?

Again, I'm not the right person to go into real details, I'm not an engineer. So we can continue this conversation, but I thinkn you should have this one with one of the real developers. I had this with one of the top ones of this platform and they told me after pushing pushing pushing, still, not possible...at least I know that whatever is done to prevent bots technically, there will be more intelligent bots coming around the corner that cannot be detected!

"page scroll lock, not sure what that is,"

Much like one has to scroll and accept terms & conditions for some software installation a similar function could be implemented. One would have to scroll all the way down to the end of the post before being able to vote. It makes sense since one owes to see the entire post.

I am not an engineer either. I am just trying to figure out what is possible. Maybe one of the Steemit engineers can join us?
