A Penny For Your Thoughts

I'm just sitting here, reading my feed at 7:28 AM (Japan time), wondering what I should post. My head is foggy - I'm usually not up this early. I feel like a lump of leftover mashed potatoes, sitting on the table from last night's dinner. So this is a stream of consciousness rant to get my gears turning.

Going through my feed, the first thing that catches my eye is some nonsense about "being your authentic self. " This is code for "give me some money." Nobody who is being their authentic self needs to mention the fact. But then again, maybe he is being his authentic, shallow, uninteresting self. Hiding nothing in plain sight behind meaningless words.

Scroll down some more. A headline I've seen at least 20 times now in different forms. I feel like I've already read that post. Skip. Nothing to see here.

Ahh, a rant complaining about people complaining about not getting their fair share of votes. I can dig that. Upvote. And some of the comments are worth upvotes as well. One comment already made like 1500? Upvote for making money with a comment. It's not really 1500 yet though, you'd better hang on to it.

Should I dig down deeper or write something myself? I don't know. Can't decide. Not feeling particularly creative at the moment. What does it matter? It's all a gamble anyway.

And now, as I wrote that, a vision of a future where all Steemians are connected directly brain to brain in a network where you make money for your thoughts and ideas in real time as they flow out. Or maybe the currency will be thought itself, who needs money when you have the ideas and knowledge that can be turned into something real?

Is that what we're witnessing? The transformation of currency into thought, albeit at a very early stage?
