Steemit Gave Me The Best Days Of My Life
I've spent my whole life, Desperate to play in the Ocean.
Don't mind our sunburns LOL
I live in Utah, and it's so far away! I've never had the money or resources to go! My parents took me once to the ocean, But I was only allowed to put my feet in it for a moment, I was then dragged away to the car.
It was heartbreaking
In the late July, I had a plan! Which my 8,000 I could never afford to go on vacation, This debt accumulated from leftover school costs, And some of the costs of starting my business. I used it for supplies, Software and lots of other things. I kept thinking, What if I had 10,000 ?? I could go on a nice vacation AND MAKE my debt disappear.
That's when I thought... Steemit.
I had just quit my job, and I needed to celebrate my achievement. But A vacation, when I had no savings, seemed like a joke. I started dedicating all day everyday to Steemit, Writing and writing. Some days were brutal; I was so tired and just wanted to go to bed, But I knew I'd have to get those four posts done, NO EXCUSES.
Things rapidly started changing. Eventually, I got my 10,000 that I wanted.
I wiped out my debt, And I booked flight tickets to San Diego with my boyfriend. I don't think I've ever been happier in my life.
I was able to afford a six-day stay at a nice hotel RIGHT NEXT TO THE BEACH! It was Also near Seaworld!
High Five to all the whales that helped make this happen!
And of course a "high Five" to all you lovely dolphins & Minnows as well!
After a tiring day of flying, and packing, and being at the airport. We finally got to the hotel. We even had a freaking balcony, That allowed us to see the bay! My boyfriend wanted to relax for a bit, and after a bit of shopping for some snacks and such, We decided to go to the beach.
Finally
Earlier this year, I went to San Francisco, Me and my dad went to play in the ocean, But to our horror, the water was cold. We couldn't go in more than to our knees, And it was heartbreaking for me.
Because of this, On our way to the beach, I was so terrified.
I kept telling my boyfriend that the water would be too cold for us to go in it. That there is NO way it could work out.
But surprisingly it wasn't.
I have never been happier. My and I boyfriend didn't plan to swim that night, But he stood and watched as I ran into the water like a crazy lady. Screaming and laughing at the waves. He's never seen me so happy in our 6-year relationship.
I was so amazed by the beauty and strength of the ocean. Whenever I told people that going to the ocean was something I desperately wanted to do, They rolled their eyes.
It's just a body of water Kaylin, It's not that great
THEY WERE WRONG!
Now that I'm back in Utah, I'm determined to do whatever I can to go back!
I haven't written much about my vacation, and I'm planning some more articles! This was such a life changing and motivating vacation for me!
For those of you who have been upset with Steemit, To a certain degree, I understand. But at the same time, I have so much love and appreciation for this platform. It also hurts my heart a little bit.
I hope that everyone can have such a life changing experience because of Steemit too!
This is great! I love living on the east coast. The beach is only a couple of hours drive. Congrats on all your success.
Lucky!! Hehe thank you very much :)
I'm always gonna say this... You're super awesome... And I love your dedication... You're high on the list of my top Steemians.... We've so much in common ..... Best buddies forever?
I've never been to the sea ..... Will visit it soon with my SO too ....
I'm glad to know that Steemit has been a major influence in your life... You rock, @kaylinart ..
All the best! :)
Hell yes!! We should go to the sea! Thank you so much.
I'm glad you got to play in the ocean; it's fun! :D
Thanks for the pics and I hope you share some more from your awesome vacation!
Thank you hehe :) I will.
Fantastic, and so happy for you! You do prove to be an inspiration to others of us here as well, just by being so focused and dedicated to get your posts done. Glad it's paid off for you.
Hey I've purchased www.SteemTrek.org and thinking to organize an event for Steemians to get together in Roswell NM around July 4th weekend for an American style Steemfest... interested? Esp if I can set up booths where certain "artists" can sell their physical stuff in the real world - or prolly even accept Steem by then on our smart phones? Maybe you could also tell this very story here.
Thank you hehe!
YES! I AM INTERESTED in that! Add me to the list! I'm glad you are doing something in the U.S. I won't be able to go to SteemFest sadly because I don't have a passport and I've never been out of country before.
Fantastic I'm glad - please message me on chat or via [email protected] later today if you will, you're an early rsvp which means I'd like to talk to you about the most basic planning.
Great photography. Have fun @kaylinart
Thank you so much.
This is inspiring. I spent all my childhood close to the see and I loved it. I´m happy you made it happen.
Btw your bf looks like Moises when the see is about to open and he walks trough it :)
Hhaha!! Thank you for your comment! I'll be sure to tell him. You are very lucky you were always so close to the sea.
Congrats! I feel spoiled now living with access to the ocean.
You are so lucky ;) In Utah there are a lot of mountains so we have a lot of hiking trails. But thats about it, I think I'd rather be near the ocean instead.
Ahh, I'm so happy for you both, that's amazing you were finally able to pay off your debt and take a vacation thanks to all your hard work!! Thanks for sharing this story, I too feel happier just reading about your trip. :)
I have lived within a few hundred meters of the sea (English Channel) for nearly thirty years and reading your post brought home to me for the first time how lucky I have been. It's funny, but when you can see it from the bedroom window you can go months without ever going down to it - I know people in the village who don't go to the beach from one year to the next.
