The demand for content creators and curators exceeds supply in 2017 and how Steemit can help bridge the gap.

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

So here's some exciting news about the supply and demand of content creators and curators.  What I do for a living puts me in front the very active and thriving business community in Houston on a daily basis.  I always hear about how someone does social media marketing, SEO/SEM, web development, etc.  However, I have never heard of someone claiming to be a content curator.

I realize done properly, content curation is a massive win for everyone.  Curation of articles outside of Steemit not only helps to bring in audiences to the Steemit platform by offering interesting material, it also helps the creator of the article we curate because we share their work with a fresh new audience that may never have found them without the curation.

For articles produced inside Steemit, the platform encourages curation through the reading, upvoting, and resteeming of great content.  It's a powerful way for even non-writers to participate in this ecosystem. We consume content all day long anyways so why not consume in a place that pays you and more importantly, read and comment on what inspires you! Now we can get paid to learn about things that fill our cup!

Can getting stuck on a Facebook video thread of endless dog videos really help us move forward in life?

But for those of us that love to write, oh baby!

There are 5 rules of content curation you should remember to apply.

1.    Reproduce only those portions of the headline or article that are necessary to make your point or to identify the story. Do not reproduce the story in its entirety because the more you link to third parties, the more likely they are to link back to you – which ultimately improves your SEO.

2.   Try not to use all, or even the majority, of articles available from a single source. Limit yourself to those articles that are directly relevant to your audience because a good content curator is selective and only links to the most relevant content on a specific topic or issue.  They do not simply reproduce every article under the sun.

Please take a look this amazing image and be encouraged when you write about someone's article, you are helping them.  I will be informing the content creators whose articles I may curate that they too can join Steemit.

Laurie Fullerton of The Drum shares how the demand for content curators exceeds the supply in 2017 according to a recent report on 2017 marketing trends.

The image below shows a study which polled over 300 directors, vice presidents, C-level marketing executives, as well as hiring managers. Focusing on the issues and trends that are important to the careers of those in the marketing departments, the report concludes that hiring numbers are at times inconsistent across marketing functions as is the supply of available talent.

Steemit will encourage all of us to improve ourselves in all areas... from writing, to reading, to learning about really fired up stuff, and yes, even personal development.  It gives us all a platform by which to practice principles from Dale Carnegie's book, How to Win Friends and Influence People.

Proud to be a Steemian,
