I Love you

Three words I refused to say. The emotion I refused to accept. The feeling I refused to acknowledge. Even though I felt my feelings grow stronger for you, day by day, with every touch, I refused to utter those three simple words. The words I knew you wanted to hear. You taught me about love, guided me to its embrace, engulfed me in your fire and with each interaction I felt your temperature rising. Yet I refused to recognise my mistakes. I was blind.

Your beauty has no bounds, spreading far and wide. The Sun doesn't compare to your gravity, you pulled me in and kept me warm. Keeping me in orbit every time I strayed. I thank you. Every minute we spent was a blessing, yet I was ignorant to my blessings, ungrateful. Your hair, your face, your character, your grace, you’re strong and you know it.

Three words which can help heal a broken heart. I refused to be a healer. Refusing to commit because I was afraid of commitment. Afraid of being heartbroken, so I decided to break hers. Devouring each heart, believing it’d make me stronger, believing if I hurt her first then that will save me the pain. Now pain is all I have, regret is all I feel. I loved you more than you’ll ever know, now you’ll never know. I was stupid.

To rewind time, would mean I’m being given a second chance… I don't deserve it. You deserve your happiness and more. You taught me to love, introduced me to its nature. Showed me what it means to love unconditionally, never turned your back on me when I turned my back on you. For that I say thank you. The love you gave was unrequited and the pain you felt was real, for all the pain I’ve caused I’m truly sorry but I know I can’t change the past. If you’re reading this now I hope you can understand, I’m finding my feet, on the road to becoming a man.
