Rumi - My Favorite Poet

My all-time favorite poet is the 13th century Sufi mystic Rumi. His poems address love and spirituality. According to the BBC (source), Rumi is the best selling poet in the USA .

Rumi was an Islamic Scholar, Sufi Mystic, Theologian and Jurist whose works have transcended time and space - continuing to inspire people all around the world.

I had never heard of Rumi until I was living in the jungle on Bali and randomly picked up a book of his writings. The passion and beauty of Rumi’s words touched me deeply from the first poem I read. I immediately finished the book.

After reading Rumi for the first time I copied my favorite 4 poems onto paper and carried them in my wallet until the paper disintegrated. By then I knew the poems off by heart!
