1000+ Followers - Steemit and Advertising - Stay with Steem - I Guess I Will Do It!
Welcome Steemit Friends. It has been my opinion that Steemit needs advertising in order to survive.
Since No One Else That Is A Software Wants To Do This, I Guess It Is Up To Me
I see that Steemit is a great place and I truly want it to succeed. I want Steemit to last forever.
Why? I see that so many people's posts are so awesome. I am not talking about cryptocurrency news, though that is important, I am talking about things written, cooking recipes shared, travel stories and photos, stories that talk about family, and so much more.
I have surpassed a thousand followers and it is far past that. So, among Steemians I am blessed perhaps and thankful for that from all of you.
The problem I see is this - eventually the money in fiat currencies runs out and Steem starts to drop, like we are seeing now. Someone else must come in and buy Steem.
Meanwhile and I have read the reasons why there should be no advertisements, like there are on every other internet medium and at the same time say - Steemit is a place where the author is only paid for a limited time but that does not mean that people do not read posts long into the future.
It does not mean that our poets, our writers, our historians, our announcers and creators of technological advancements, and our people who investigate nastiness in the world and expose it will not have someone read their posts for centuries to come.
What if a person posts something on Steemit and over time they have 100,000 no 200,000 no MILLIONS of people who view their post?
This will happen and an author should be rewarded for that. Steemit itself should be rewarded for that. It costs money to display posts forever. You never know, someone might post something that is so valuable to humanity that it is like Shakespeare in whatever field or topic they post on. You never know, somebody might post something with as much lure as J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter.
What should occur when that happens? Should Steemit continue to serve it for free? Can Steemit do it?
Create some advertising spaces where both Steemit and the author receive for the advertising and VOILA!
It will take me awhile to do this. I am more than rusty but that has never stopped me in the past. It will be a separate place like Busy.org or ChainBB but I will do it if no one else will.
I will still post to earn Steem like everyone else. I will still write my stories, poems, books, and so on.
Maybe I will take a different direction - maybe I will build an app where you can add your post after it is on Steemit and see if there is any interest in it. I do know that things that are written take time before people begin to appreciate what is there before word spreads before the intellectuals in the various humanities or scientific communities begin to grasp a hold of what is written or posted such as the lead acid battery. It was invented without any reward for the inventor in the 1850's or so.
No one knows how many lead acid battery inventors there are on Steemit and what will become of their inventions be it prose, story, book, or the cataloguing of some historical event of some country.
In other words and I have seen someone try to make something like Amazon for the publishing of books, we can do better.

Why? I have posted content on Steemit that is true and it embarasses the hell out of someone caught with their pants down and so have other people. We caught someone in power and we proved it in an environment that has no censorship and which cannot easily be destroyed.
Why stick with a cryptocurrency or secure internet token like Steem or Steem Dollars? I have investigated that Steem is largely feeless whereas others can cost a fortune to micropay. This is an important feature of Steemit that cannot be lost and must be used to the best benefit of the author and the audience, the Steemit Corporation and those who do the Witnessing.

Very good read, and I tend to agree. This is a great idea, and advertising couldn't possibly hurt any. Steemit needs the people, people are its fuel and will remain so. The people need Steemit just as much as Steemit needs the people. You have my vote and my follow.

I totally agree with what you say in the post, you are very right, as I see great writers, musicians and professionals who do not receive due attention to their messages.

@steem.city might be of interest to you. It's being built by @dragosroua (and friends). It's currently in closed alpha...they (about a hundred people?)are working out the bugs.
I know very little about it BUT...from what little I DO know it sounds like something you would be interested in.
Okay, I checked that out and what it looks like is Facebook where people are able to have a friends list and so on. Group list and I was a member of Geocities way back when. It did not change the ability to earn income. The same rules will apply for the amount of steem to rebuild after votes.
Meanwhile, this could have been so easy. I was testing the html Iframe tag which Steemit blocked from being used. Basically, it would have taken a day to hook a database up to the encapsulated Steemit inside and IFrame without changing a thing on Steemit.
Some ads would have appeared on the edge of the IFrame and there would be an automated place to buy ads for advertisers where they could be displayed by things such as tags and hits to a post.
The advertisers would buy steem or bitcoin for tax purposes and then their ads would be displayed like on youtube or Facebook or google. It could even be hooked up to adsense. But, Steemit does not want that.
Well, okay, that's their choice.
There are still ways to do the same thing but not so easy. Since it is all public source. It will take a while and all else is the same. A conversion occurs some goes to me, some to author, some to Steemit to keep it going forever

As a new user it definitely was a breath of fresh air to be on a platform that didn't have ads. Even reddit has snuck in ads over the years and it was sort of a bother for me. But on the other hand, if ads could be for the benefit of the growth of the site as well as the users, I would definitely bear them.

Thanks! If you say so, and they may be the best advertisers but not always the best payers for content. Authors deserve to be paid on serious content that is created and not left to starve. Especially, when there might be someone with a billion dollars who will let that author die and laugh their asses off.
People who just start out posting rarely receive much for their posts because they have no followers but that does not mean that what they have posted could not be the sole and most important historical capture of an event, be a literary or some other form of art masterpiece, or a world changing idea or invention.
The problem with the internet and automation is that intellectual property is too cheap, far below the ability of the creater of the intellectual property to live off what they created. The internet has become a form of enslavement and a way to take all the power away from artists and so on so they receive nothing or next to nothing. That is okay if everyone receives nothing but there are those worth fortunes who use without conscience the abilities of those who keep them in their monetary positions without reward - it is injustice!
I think it is extremely important to study the difference between the "Now Internet" and the "Future Internet".
Steemit is the first bud in the humongous tree of the "blockchain technology. Therefore; it's unfair to judge based on what is wrongly foreseeing, especially when what you foresee is all based on the current platform of the internet as you cited.
It is amazing that you have so many followers and I congratulate you for it but please give STEEMIT the time it needs to blossom; let the first dream come to pass and then BLOCKCHAIN technology will find its way to make the world of writers, poets,dreamers,... you name it, a much better world. IT"S GOING TO HAPPEN, just give time. Just give it time.
Thanks Um...you do not understand the nature of both Steemit and the internet believe it or not I helped design a portion of it, now obsolete but hey - you would think I would deserve some sort of respect.
Steemit is capable of supporting multiple applications like Golos or the Chinese one or busy.org or Chainbb.org there are a lot of things that Steemit could be doing and I am one of the people that will do some of it.
In other words...just because I build something that you or some others do not like does not mean you have to use it or be affected by it in any way. You can continue to use Steemit the way you like without any problem.
As far as the world getting better, maybe. As far as the average person who suddenly creates a masterpiece of some sort getting paid when socialist thugs and all other sorts who are rich beyond your wildest dreams, despots and tyrants rule, I have heard of greedy capitalists and all other sorts of crap besides war lords, cartel rulers, and you name it.
The internet is used as a slave trade market for international slave buying and selling. Before the internet, that was largely removed from the world in most places. They just busted a national group and maybe international group of slavers out of Los Angeles California. This is just one small example.
People's organs who are taken from them solely because they have been captured and they match someone rich are also on the internet on the internet for sale, the organ donor died
So, again this is something that can be done in addition to what is already there without affecting anything
