Will there be a mass exodus from Steemit to a similar yet superior platform?
Imagine if you could optimize the content in your feed better, or get everything you like in Steemit? Would you exchange all your STEEM and move on? Would you be stuck with a truckload of steem power that's lost all value now Steemits like the new MySpace? What if someone like Ontology who are out to work with private buisiness to utilize blockchain technology,worked with Facebook or YouTube etc. to monetize it utilizing cryptocurrency. I perceive this would almost render decentralized blockchain based platforms irrelevant. Watch this space....

I can't see it happening.
Facebook and YouTube might offer bastardized versions where they retain all the control.
They're on too good a wicket to seriously upset the apple cart now.
Any new competitor misses out on steem's first mover advantage.
Others may move into this space, but I can't see circumstances where they dominate it.
There are many with a lot invested is true and such bastardized versions may even make steemit more popular?
All we can do is speculate.
It's easy to see the upside to competitors, like ONO, because their payouts won't be limited to one week (which is a big frustration for a lot of people here); but imagine how this would work in practice.
An article you post here is only competing with posts written 7 days earlier to 7 days later.
With unlimited earnings, each post is competing with every post which has ever been written. That's a huge first mover advantage which wouldn't take long to slow recruitment right down.
