Learn Something About Steemit #3: What Users Can Do On Steemit
Starting on Steemit is overwhelming.
I think you will agree or remember the time when it was like this.
You have plenty of options to interact with the community on Steemit or surrounding tools. On steemit you can post, vote, resteem, follow and comment. For direct communication, you can use chats since Steemit has no built in messaging system.
What You Need To Know About Posting?
Posting is very easy on Steemit and like several other platforms. The only big difference is a different markup language, which you might know from Github, called Markdown. On the other hand, you can directly use HTML to format your post. All this needs a little bit practice to get your post out in the way you are used to.
Pictures can be easily added by simply drag and drop. They are automatically stored by Steemit.

Follow Authors You Like, Not Everybody
Details on how many people you follow and how many followers you have are shown in your profile.
Tip: Follow only the users you really like and of course their content. Otherwise, your stream gets quickly flooded with unnecessary information. Do not do follow for follow. It will not pay off.
Comments: The Power Of Having a Discussion
Please get involved with the plenty of great content on Steemit. People spend so much time, love and passion to create excellent posts. Leave a meaningful comment if you like the post or if you have a question or a remark. The users like to have this kind of conversations.
You can easily find replies to your comments in your profile under replies. Please do not ignore them
Your Voice Is Called (Up-)Voting
As mentioned already in a previous post, you have Steem Power (SP). SP gives your voting for a post or a comment a weight. More SP gives you more weight, which results in higher rewards for this voting.
Vote on comments and posts you like. Restrict yourself to do this 10 times a day only. I explain in this series more details why.
Resteem Posts = Using Other User's Content
Like retweet on Twitter or pin on Pinterest you can resteem posts of other users. I.e. the great content of other users is shown in your profile with the resteem tag. You will earn partially on the resteemed posts if you voted before on it. The main purpose is to distribute the post to a bigger audience and not earning Steem.
No Chatting on Steemit (directly)
Unfortunately, a messaging system is not part of Steemit. The users are creative by using other tools to compensate this weakness. Several chat channels on steemit.chat.com are available for various topics.
Several projects like whale shares or PAL (Peace, Abundance, Liberty) have their own Discord channels. You can chat and talk.
