Same concept, the difference being that if someone wants to buy a product at a reduced price (reduced by the value of the upvotes) then that should be made available.

Your concept would have everyone waiting till the last moment.

Could work, it kind of reminds me of the "Penny Auctions" that used to be popular at one time about 10 years ago.
