Surprise, we have spammers!:) Banhammer in action
Until this day I yet never used a "mute" button, but this day has come:)
Now I'm happy that steemit has a tiny personal Banhammer. I already began thinking that I'll never use it, but we all make mistakes:)
A few days ago I read a blog post by @denmarkguy (check it out, almost everything I'd love to say he already said there) but yet didn't think that this can be a problem. Surprise, it can be:)
We're gaining some passive-agressive (or even active agressive) newbies that start their blogging with sending multiple "Follow me" comments. Annoying thing, really. And today I had an epic comversation. I just adviced to stop spamming cause it'll lead to ban anyway, and recieved an agressive reaction.
One of the main reasons I'm blogging here on steemit is cause people here are really nice. So, I finally found a place where I can share my thoughts freely. And I don't want someone spoiling my mood with rude comments, so...
Today I muted for the first time. That made all the comversation stop and disappear. Now I know how local Banhammer works. To say more I think that appearing of such accounts is also a sign of the community growth, so these are just " developmental diseases", and I hope we'll pass threw them:)

I've muted a few people for spam such as constant excessive newslinks, or interminable t-shirt postings. I muted someone promoting Satanism, but that is just my personal preference. And yesterday I was disgusted by a full-on hard porn gif posted as a comment on a trending article. Like @steevc I've only muted a handful of people, but I'm very grateful for the option. I don't need my day soured by offensive or annoying posts.
