TIPS FOR NEWLY DIAGNOSED
It depends! For someone who is 15+ years old then I would suggest learning the basics of nutrition. You will already have to learn the basic carb counting to know how to properly dose insulin. So why not go in-depth learning about your caloric intake and support the big picture.
Once you're familiar with the basics, you will then start seeing food differently because you'll be able to split your perspective by analyzing it from a scientific approach.
- Does this food upset my stomach?
- Does it fit in my diet?
- Will it effect my insulin in a negative way?
To alleviate the "Diabetic Burnout" the best thing anyone can do is equip themselves with knowledge. The lack of knowledge is why people fail at anything in life and usually replace the unknown with emotions. Being a diabetic and having a logical approach will go long way because it's common to have ups & downs.
TIP #2
FIND A PHYSICAL ACTIVITY YOU ENJOY
Physical Activity has to be your staple, best way is to start thinking about yourself like you're an athlete. Neuropathy in diabetes is common aka. nerve damage in your feet, arms, and recently found your organs as well! Exercising helps to reduce the side-effects of diabetes like neuropathy because with training your stimulating different physiological states, like running helps with your digestion, weight training distributing glucose into throughout your body etc.
Yoga, weight training, martial arts, running, dancing, basketball, soccer, whatever it is make it a staple in your life! Not only you get the physical benefits but it will effect your mindset as well by taking your mind off things!
TIP #3
READ SELF-IMPROVEMENT BOOKS
Or listen :) Diabetes is 90% psychological! Success will depend on self-awareness and knowledge of the psyche.
All the information out there how to improve your blood sugars is out there 100% free anyways, executing is difficult so knowing yourself will go a long way!
I hope everyone including humans with a healthy pancreas will take something from this!
All of my November earnings from any content I create will be donated to Non-Profit Diabetes Foundation
Stay gold,
Cheers
