Is Waking up in the Morning truly a Necessity?

For long life and long telomeres, those "end caps" to our chromosomes which are a primary indictator of our lifespan, waking up with the sun is an essential necessity for sure.

The SCN, aka Supra Chiasmic Nucleus is a peptide and neurotransmitter containing area of the brain, tightly linked to your eyes.

It resides in your "master gland" more commonly known as your Pituitary.

It's right above your optic chiasma, which, if you want to look at it from a certain perspective, means it's like your central clock that sets all the other clocks in your body organs.

Can you guess what the main contributing factor is that controls this amazing area of the pituitary?

Light.

And, the only natural light that we had on planet earth that was the greatest influencer of the SCN was the sun.

In the am, the sun, via your eyes, when not blocked by filters (glass/glasses for example) not only sets this clock so it's spinning fast enough and in sync with the 24 hr planetary rhythm, it directly produces DOPAMINE, your main neurochemical for reward and motivation.

At the same time, it, the sun, is also producing MELATONIN, via the same mechanism, which, if you want to look into it further, has to do with that smart guy you know as Einstein.

His E=Mc2 equating describes how we make dopamine for one, in our eyes, by slowing down light particles.

That's right, the "nighttime hormone" is produced in large quantities in the AM, and, among other things ads as a massive free radical "mop" during the day, and, later on, gets "super activated" when you are in darkness, creating the biological environment for deep sleep and recovery at night.

The SCN is also linked with your gut, which houses over 50% of your immune system, making the early am, and natural sunlight, a key in your gut health and, in turn, overall ability to remain healthy and happy.

Without a happy gut environment, we can't produce maximal amounts of that other wonderful neurochemical, Serotonin, which I like to refer to  as your "peace molecule."

So, is waking up in the morning a necessity?

It sure is, if you want a long life, long telomeres and lots of energy and peace in your day.

The morning sun is our life giver, timekeeper and joy bringer, literally.
