Made a Good Life Choice and Got on Steemit? Here's How to Make the Most of Your First Few Weeks.

I wrote this guide based on how I advise friends and family to get a strong start on Steemit.

Please let me know what you think and how we can guide new users to the Steemit community!

Steemit is a social and multimedia platform built for users to interact with the Steem blockchain in an open, censorship-free and monetized environment where contributors can be rewarded for their time and content.

Right now is a great time to get into Steem. Here's advice I give to friends and family.

Hi Steemians, I'm @holsturr.

TLDR: In April 2018, cryptocurrencies were seeing a major run in price. Now is a perfect time to get involved in Steem [chart here].

While Steemit is designed to be like a Facebook/reddit/Medium where you directly earn for participating, there are ways to maximize your returns and time spent on the platform. This article covers a handful of things that make for a successful first couple months. As a general rule, take time to interact with other Steemians; treat the blockchain as an economy and a community.

Steemit is how I got involved on the Steem blockchain. It's the easiest way to sign up.

Steemit gives users the opportunity to earn rewards by authoring and posting their own content in addition to upvoting (and thereby curating) content they like. Its easy to start earning by posting and upvoting, but being productively social and interacting with users and groups you align with is key to being successful on the platform.

It's an easy expectation to believe posting and upvoting is sufficient for success, and in a way, it is; but the real rewards (monetary and cordial) start coming in from interacting with the community rather than simply adding to it. Becoming a substantial player in the community is how to make it big, and there are a few easy steps to achieve ascendancy more efficiently.

1. Easiest step: comment on content.

Comment on the content of others - trolls and moonbeams alike can be successful, as long as there's some discernible value to their reply. Comments that are purely hateful or simply have no worth (like many Fb posts) are unlikely to generate earnings - instead, they'll be disregarded or flagged (essentially, downvoted).

2. Next step: engage with individuals, organizations, and causes that you care about.

A step up is intermeshing with other Steemians and groups/accounts you're drawn to.

3. Form a solid identity.

Focus on building an identity tailored to what you're trying to achieve with your Steem account. Massive action is needed to build a physiognomy, so if you're going to be doing a lot of something, it might as well be something natural or something you'd be involved with anyway.

4. Advanced step: build your own organization and/or rally others around a cause of your own - or, collaborate to develop the blockchain or tools for it.

Getting Steemians involved in a project or cause of your own is one way to the top.

You can:

  • Code - develop your own tools for the blockchain, or get involved with the blockchain itself.
  • Conscript - rally people around a cause.
  • Publish - generate reliable timely content and give your followers something to expect.

The Steem blockchain is a fascinating new endeavor that is both its own social media platform as well as its own economy. By treating Steemit as more than just a different type of Facebook that pays you, you can realize great monetary and social rewards by interacting with the blockchain and community appropriately.

💰✨Remember… Every single person is their own trusted expert and seeking to promote yourself in that role is vital today, now more than ever.

Great! This is why we always need to move forward :)
Don't Let Yesterday Take Up Too Much Of Today.

Thank you for your comment! I hope that we can work toward fixing Steem's scruples as we make our major focus bringing more human users onboard.

Bless the past and imagine the future from a point of wholesomeness and a "Christ-consciousness" -paraphrased from "The Game of Life and How to Play It", certainly some of the best advice I've ever read.
