I feel that we are still in the POC phase of steemit. So it is natural for people to have questions like
Is steem just a passing fad
Is the payout system sustainable
How can I make money with steemit
How to do XYZ in steemit
Since there is a lot of interest about steemit and people still need help getting used to the platform, most of the authors try to cash in on this interest. As the platform matures and becomes much more usable the interest in the platform itself will fade and will lead to people naturally writing about their hobbies and passions. I think we are still an year away from that. So you will have to bear up with steemit posts till then or write an app to filter out the topic ;)
Thanks for clarifying so much about it :) I am not that annoyed by it that this post may sound, it's just a topic that was on my mind for several days and that I wanted to address :)
The people who vote are responsible for the payouts. A lot of people are looking for popular things to upvote so they can ride the curation wave that accumulates. Money drives much of the voting behavior overall. The echo chamber of positive imagery for steem is rewarded, and revealing the dark side is frowned upon by many hehe.
Agree! About a month now on the platform and not really knowing what to think about all this. Reading some posts you got the impression everything is "Hallelujah". Exaggerated comments, compliments and politeness. The other day I visited a post of someone playing a song he liked and he sang with it. He was singing that much out of tune that even my dog left the room. And the comments varied from : 'Great' to 'Thought about making an album'? All fake reply's just to get a vote.

Yeah you are totally right. It's a sad thing that people don't upvote the stuff they like but more the stuff they think they can profit from
