North Idaho Steemit Meetup Recap
Short Version: I Met Some Amazing People And There Were COOKIES!
So, A few months ago @gringalicious messaged me inquiring if I would be interested in attending a meetup with other Inland Northwest Steemians. "Heck ya I would," was pretty much my instant thought reply, and being the gracious person that she is, she scheduled the event around when it would be easiest for me and my fellow librarian pal and Steemit blogger @jacobtothe to attend, right after our yearly All Staff Day.
Every year our library district shutters the librarys open signs and all of us gather together for a day of training. That training encompasses all manner of information designed to help up better serve our patrons. This year we were immersed brain science and how an understanding of brain chemistry can better help our attitudes and health both at work and in life. I'll cover my insights derived from that amazingness in a later post.
As I have been with the library for five years, I was forced to stand in front of all 90 of my fellow librarians and humiliated, er, congratulated for my service. Pictures were involved, and clapping and cheering, but I love the cup they gave me!
After an afternoon of applied first aid training, stress burnout training, some lovely confections, and a cybersecurity lecture, @jacobtothe and I were set free to attend another very anticipated event: The First Ever North Idaho Steemit Meetup!!!
Now, I'll leave the blogging, review, and promoting of that event to the most excellent people ( @gringalicious and @noboxes) that organized it, but I just have to say this: Steemit is beyond blessed to have such a talented group of people in their corner!
@gringalicious, @rigaronib, @noboxes, @drobinson, @uglysweater, @alovelymess, @fullofhope, @trumpit, @lifes-a-donut, @hotrod, @freerunner.
If you haven't yet followed their blogs, I hope that you do, for they are a genuinely awesome, creative group of people committed to the idea that is Steemit. Last night's meetup was about meeting and greeting the people behind the usernames, eating some good grub, and sharing our mutual enthusiasm pertaining to all manner of subjects.
When my mouth wasn't on fire from my ragin cajun chicken sandwich, I spent many a minutes speaking with every member of the family! I went home elated to have passed an evening in such good company, and as we were getting ready to go @gringalicious gave me a whole pile of these:
HOLY CHEESITS! Her food tastes as good as it looks! She is amazing people! Make her recipes, you totally won't be sorry. Once I stepped through the front door of my home those cookies lasted about as long as a piece of bacon at a pork convention! No joke!
That said, I left the restaurant we met at, Capone's last night full of elation both about the future of Steemit and from having spent my time in the company of such lovely people. Thank you so, so much @gringalicious, @noboxes, and to your lovely mom/wife for organizing such an awesome event. I loved meeting you all!!
Want to read more @Generikat posts?

So glad I had the opportunity to meet you @generikat, it was an absolute pleasure
Oh, I'm just as glad to have met you! Thanks again for everything!😊
It was so nice to meet you @generikat! I look forward to reading your blog! I am following you. Have a wonderful weekend!
I adored getting to meet you too @lifes-a-donut!
So far the weekend is grand, other than I froze a bit watching my son play football this morning, it was so cold! Hope your weekend is going fantastic!
That was a fun day. Nice post @generikat
Thanks @hotrod! I had a blast too!
That looks like a whole lot of good fun. Must be very nice to meet some of the folks you chat with via the space pen now and then. And such good food, and COOKIES! Yowza, I'm just a bit jealous. Not sure they would have even made it to the door after the drive home in this world here ( :
Thanks for putting out a nice view of the meet and eat, and all the fun that goes along. Have a most wondrous Saturday.
It was a very amazing bit of a time!
LOL, sorry, the "space pen" thing got me, heh.
You know, I love to write and hang out on the ol binary machine here, but I have to admit that I enjoy interacting in real life even more. I guess I am a bit of an Between-vert, for I enjoy solitude and silence, but also am energized by a crush of humans engaging in rambunctious social dialogue. Hmm, chameleons are cool I guess...
Thank you for the kind words, and I would have totally given you a couple of cookies before the horde devoured them, they really were amazing, I wish I had one right now! Hope you had a fantastic day and an even better Sunday my friend!😊
Oh very cool. I bet that was a great time.I really believe we are part of something special here!
Those cookies tho!
It was a great time, and I believe that too! In fact, I have had a pretty enduring case of Steem-thusiasm for almost a year now!
Cookies, sigh, cookies....I miss them!
Neat, I need to find out more about these meetups... seems like a good time was had by all.
It was a lot of fun! If you ever have an opportunity to attend one, I totally recommend it!
I'm definitely going to be keeping a watch for any that will be coming up next month or so.
Looks like it was a fantastic event... also, that Ragin' Cajun chicken sandwich looks most excellent. I need to get over to Capone's to try that asap!
Ha ha! The problem with Capone's is trying to decide what to order, it's all good. And as a person who likes hot food, I can attest that the sandwich had sufficient heat!
And it was a splendid time for sure, and if we have another meetup you should totally attend!
... and there were potatoes served, Amen (-:
Preach! 😆
They Tate-in!
So cool to read about meetup! Aaa, now I feel even more excited about my trip to Steemfest and meeting Steemians. I have to admit I am also worried, I have not traveled on my own for a while.
Mmmm those cookies! ^^
AHHH! @m31, I I didn't know that you were going to Steemfest! I am so excited for you! I love meeting new people and traveling, hopefully one day I will get myself to a Steemfest😊
You'll definitely be in my thoughts, I hope you have a safe and pleasant journey in a couple of weeks!
And those cookies were so fantastic, I was touched by the thoughtful gift.
Looks like you folks had a blast. Do you by chance know of any Steemians in the southwest Idaho area, near Twin Falls that might want to get together?
We did have a fantastic time! I, sadly, don't know of any Steemians in southern Idaho! You should totally post about wanting to have a southwest Idaho meetup! I bet there have to be some on here somewhere!
I have made a few posts looking for any interest...but none so far.
Oh, I am so sorry!
