STEEM

This is your average coin. It's priced according to the market's offer and demand. It's value in a post is equal to 25% of the rewards in US dollars, using it's value at the time of payout.

You can trade it for STEEM POWER or SBD.You can also send it to other people and exchanges.

STEEM BACKED DOLLARS

A lot like STEEM, they also make up 25% of the rewards in US dollars and you can send them to others and exchanges, but you can't trade them directly for steem power in your wallet.

The biggest difference here is how they are backed at $1. This means it's value will never drop below this much.

STEEM POWER

These are actually influence tokens. This decides how much your upvote is worth. It makes up 50% of a post's reward. But be careful! You can power down your SP (Steem Power) to get STEEM back, but it takes a total of 13 weeks! You're paid once every 7 days. I.e. if you power down 130 SP, you lose 13 SP and get 13 STEEM each week.

The Steem's reward pool pays out at least US$ 250,000.00 on a daily basis among every post out there. Holding more SP gives you more control of how that money is distributed, thus making your upvote worth more $.

Upvotes are worth more when STEEM's value rises, because that also raises how much is in the reward pool to get distributed. You can use https://steemnow.com to see how much someone's upvote is worth.
