3D Steemit Ice cube (in a glass) Project (part 1)

I am going to make a real Steemit ice cube because I recently bought the materials to make the ice cube. It takes a while before I can make a post about it because it needs to dry for many hours and also the ice cube to be solid. In the meantime I am going to show you the tutorial, the printing process of the Steemit logo for the ice cube and the printed piece.

Tutorial ( Fusion 360)

I sketched a circle of 60 mm and offset the circle with 7 mm. Then I inserted the Steemit logo individually so the logo will be connected to the the circle.

The Steemit logo is here extruded with 20 mm using operation Join.

With Fillet I smoothened the circle around it. I wanted to smoothen the inner corners but it was not possible somehow.

To design the glass I sketched a circle around the ice cube. I offset the circle with 2 mm.

Here I extruded the glass by selecting the whole circle, so the inner and the outer circle with operation New Body. Then I extruded the inner circle with operation Cut. I didn't extrude it till the bottom because I wanted to create a real looking glass. Then I smoothened the inner circle inside with 5 mm using Fillet.

To make Cola inside the glass I extruded the inner circle inside and changed the appearance in to Calm Water and changed the colour in to a brownish colour. Now it looks like Cola!

Printing the Steemit Ice cube model

20180110_133610_1.gif

I printed this Steemit ice cube model with the Prusa because my 3d printer was making drama again. I noticed that it takes much longer for the Prusa to print models. Probably because the quality is much higher? The duration is for me quite a disadvantage. I believe it took the Prusa 2 times to print a model than my 3d printer, the Printrbot Simple Metal.
I can not wait to have a 3d printer that prints in a few minutes.

The printed pieces

The ice cube is 2 cm thick and 6 cm large.

I will see you in my next post where I will show you how I made it and of course the Steemit Ice Cube. If everything turns out as it should be since I never done this before ;-).

Wow! Awesome creative work @fathin-shihab.
I just loved your post my dear friend.

Thanks for sharing this post.😊 💙

Have a wonderful day!!

Woop.....Great job @fathin-shihab. Nice creative products of steemit. Well explained about this product. Go ahead you can do more.

Excellent 3D product gain. Excellent tutorial given from you how to make Steemit Ice cube glass. Its very easy to handle and create these product nicely. Thank you for the effort.

Great idea @fathin-shihab. I hope everything will turn out right, because I am looking forward to see the Steemit Ice Cube. Spannend......

Thank you! Ja, heel erg spanned ;-)

such a nice project to start looks really wonderful design

I like to see the real icecupe :-) How long does this printer took to print that 3d peace?

I am very curious too. It took 3 hours to print something like this. Very long.

Look forward to it and I hope the ice cube stands it ground and doesn`t melt before you take the photo of it? Haha

hahaha! Yes, it will probably melt a bit, but maybe its good, so people see its an ice cube!

I hope you enjoy popping your Steemit ice cube into your drink afterwards after the hard work you put into making it too haha!

lets wit and see :-)

Indeed we will!

When Steem goes to 10 I want some of these awesome ice cubes in my Steemit colada drink 🍹!

:-D Yes, it would taste refreshing! Steem is a bit down now but I hope its just temporary. Thanks!

Not a bad design overall, and it's nice to see someone else using Fusion 360.

Have you considered the possibility of using your design but offsetting it inside a larger block and then using Boolean removal to carve it out, leaving a space where you could actually put water in the refrigerator to turn it into ice? You could have a literal Steemit ice cube without too much trouble.

I'm tempted to give that a go myself.

Thanks @lextenebris! Nice to meet another Fusion 360 addict ;-). I am not really sure what you mean or how I have to visualise what you mean :-(. You will see in my next post or the post after it the result ;-). I hope it will be fine.

I look forward to seeing it!

I've done some work with 3D modeling on my blog, which you might find interesting because quite a lot of it is in Fusion, but the most recent bid was a gentle walk through in Onshape, which I find myself using about as much. If you haven't looked into it as a platform, you definitely might want to.

I'm staying tuned for your next release!

This looks awesome! Can’t wait to see the results

Thank you @jeffjagoe! I am super nervous! I also can not wait :-)
