Love ~ The Timeless Story

in #steemit6 years ago

As the father of three daughters and seven boys it is always harder to find that "right" gift for my girls. The older two are not as hard as the baby girl and she knows, she has daddy wrapped around her finger. As a father there are only so many pairs of Uggs, Pandora charms or perfumes you can buy your daughter. That last Christmas before a car, I find to be the most difficult.

This final year isn't really to hard to pass for a son but a daughter is a little more work as they really notice thought as much as price tags. Take any teenage boy and you can just throw an xBox, PS or rifle at them and you've made an awesome Christmas. My daughters, not so much. Kiki is a little bit of a pain in the ass to be honest. She has a knack for getting exactly what she has asked for and then looking at you like you must be joking once she has opened everything. That is not really her fault she plays the baby girl to perfection. I applaud her for that. My wife, maybe not so much, lol.

This past year with the new baby we decided to change things up for the older kids and we started giving them items that they would be able to move out with and hopefully keep for a long time afterwards. So holding my breath I presented her with this.

I was shocked, she loves it. She said it is what she has always dreamed about for her room. LOL, sounds like someone has mastered the art of sucking up. I didn't share this at Christmas as it wasn't that big of a deal to be honest as I figured she would be well past her love of this by the end of 2017.

I had not thought any more about the desk until today. She comes to me shaking saying, this is so sad. What's sad? What's wrong? I was a typical clueless dad at this point. That's when she hands my this old dirty red envelope. WTF is this was the first thought that crossed my mind. Did my daughter have some boy at school that needed a firm, ass kicking, I mean speaking to? So, I took it from her and examined it closer.

This is what was in the envelope.

She had found a lost letter of love from 1975, a 43 year old record of hope, good will and Christmas

awwww did she find in the drawer? hehe this could be like one of those stories to search out and miraculously return to the original recipient!! she sounds like a sweet girl :) and daddy's princess!

I will check for original owners as both addresses are local and both family names are still around our area.

It was taped inside the upper part of the drawer. So it was meant to be hidden, such a long hiding spot it found. I am happy she was able to find it and it stirred emotions in her. Such a wonderful occurrence.

What a heart-warming story to get my day started. Your daughter is so precious. And what a wonderful memorable Christmas gift this desk has become.

wow nice your story of steemit
thank you very much dear

Some days I have great items to share and some days I have Haiku's

😂

Sadly true, it is hit or miss, without sharing way to much family with strangers.

Nice story man. she seems sweet daddy's girl

This is cool , update us when you find original owners .

Wow! ... Incredible, man. I really hope you manage to find the people and update us with an even more heart-wrenching story.

Very nice to have found you, by the way. I've been going through your blog - some very interesting stuff you've got going on here ^^ I'm especially looking forward to participating in your contests... They seem to be quite unique.

Also, 10 children?? lol... Man oh man, you are a braver man than I. My wife and I have decided not to have children. Did you plan to have that many or was it something that just kinda happened... 10 times... ? lol =)

Glad you enjoy my stuff, I feel like I struggle sometimes. I've never done a blog before so it is all new to me.
Kids, each was planned except the first until the last one but we started very early (high school) after we both finished our bachelor of science degrees we than had the last 4 who are all under 4 at the moment, lol.

For us kids are the best things in life, we are done having them now but are looking at maybe adopting moving forward.

gasps and splutters maybe adopting cough-cougghhh after 10 children?? wheeze ... ;P
Well, I guess some people are just born for it! lol. I honestly couldn't imagine the responsibility and that comes with it. Well, I guess I could, which is why I've opted not to have any.

And yeah, don't worry, your blogging seems great so far. So very engaging!

Goodnight for now. And thank you very much for the comments and upvotes on my posts =)

You're very welcome. Welcome to steemit, to the moon we go together.
