I'm sorry you had to go through a difficult breakup. However, please remember that you broke up for a reason. It means that you two were up to a point, incompatible. This incompatibility won't go away, even if you get the girl back.
In the (very, very rare) case in which a breakup is really just a mistake, both will want to get back at some point. If this doesn't happen, the incompatibility issue really exists and will create further problems in the future if you do get back together.
You will need to wait for the oxytocin effect to fade, which takes at least a couple of months. Try to cut off contact with your ex for at least two months. You can re-visit the issue after that. If it's meant to be, two months won't make a difference. Do it and I promise you will feel better after that :)

I'm going to try out the two months thingy but its going to be quite difficult considering the very close proximity. But you raised very important points and i believe they are valid also.

I know it will be very difficult but you have to keep strong; tell yourself that you will deal with it again after the "deadline". In the meantime, focus on yourself, do things that you like, learn things, improve yourself... build a relationship with yourself first and after that you will be able to view your relationship with other people in a better light and make better decisions/choices. Been there, done that ;)
