In my opinion one Problem is that many people think that this is to good to be true because they don't understand cryptocurrencys. So they thought it s just a Scam. At least that's what a lot of my friends thought when I talked to them about steemit.

IMO, that is exactly the problem. People think steem/steemit = cryptocurrency, and I don't think that is healthy.

Steemit is a social blogging platform. To become mainstream, it needs to break away from cryptocurrency. Keep in mind that crypto advocates represent the minority of world population. Majority of social media users just want to blog, create content, and most importantly, read contents.

In FB, I can say most people are there to read news, find out what their friends are up to, and making comments. Real content creators in FB are few.

Steemit trending page are filled with crypto news and TA, sometimes the occasional disputes between whales. That is not mainstream. Mainstream readers want to know world news, like Trump meeting Kim, the latest upcoming iPhone, reviews of Avengers Infinity war, the global climate war, the latest tweet from kanye west, etc. Mainstream is not interested in crypto.

@therealwolf 's created platform smartsteem scammed my post this morning (mothersday) that was supposed to be for an Abused Childrens Charity. Dude literally stole from abused children that don't have mothers ... on mothersday.
