Steemit Guilds and what they do because they are vastly different!

Steemit has a number of guilds cropping up. There really are only two which have gravitas right now: The Daily Tribune and @curie
These guilds are set up with specific purposes.
@curie to quote: “Our mission is to help discover and reward new content creators who are posting all sorts of original content, and give them the exposure that they need. In partnership with @nextgencrypto, @berniesanders, @val, @silversteem, @clayop, @hendrikdegrote, @proskynneo and @kushed, Curie aims to provide rewards to these deserving authors whether they are writers, artists, chefs, photographers, videographers, and more.
I think that these guys do an amazing job and, if you care to scan down the list of contributors or, better still, read what they deliver, the talent is tremendous.
Hats off to @curie!
The Daily Tribune: What if every voter had an equal say no matter their Steem Power? The Daily Tribune finds out and highlights those posts that would have been rewarded most but weren't.
Now there is a flaw here which is somewhat glaring. This is not a criticism of The Daily Tribune nor its inventors or managers, it just happens to be true. On any given day, scan down the list of authors of these posts. (You will find my name in there now and again!) The same names crop up day in and day out. The monotony is incredible! These authors are there because they have the confidence of the voting community. Again, no culpability can be levelled at them.
The voting community comprises votes (and this is a guesstimate) of which 80% are worth $0.001 or less. I can hear the hooves of dissenting technologists! If you wish to tell me I am wrong in my guesstimate, please feel at liberty to do so BUT you can only tell me I am wrong if you can give me a very cohesive answer as to what is right, otherwise go back to your screen!
Why does the list of Daily Tribune authors not vary more?
Well, it is a very simple case of ‘Game Theory’ vs ‘Social Media’, the tug-of-war which will not go away.
So, in the interests of transparency, I would like to make a suggestion, well … two:
- The Daily Tribune could, at the flick of a switch, publish the 80 most overvalued posts of the day so that we can see the content and the whole voting structure behind that value.
- As well as having a Reputation value, every account should have its vote value displayed. Yes, the 1% voters may not like it but this will ease a lot of mistrust in the way in which votes are distributed by whom and to whom.
I am sure that there will much grumbling and mumbling and removal of @ebryans from every bot on the planet for this. It is in the interests of the health of steemit.com that I bring these suggestions to you.
By the way, my 166 posts (to date) have yielded 7598 votes and a total of $363.42, excluding resteems and including the curation which went elsewhere. $2.19/post; $0.047/vote.
Considering I get steemit.com on Page 1 of a Google search on a news item (more than once), I don't think that there is a terribly content-focussed attitude (other than @curie) - Game Theory is winning., no matter the noises that get made. Steemit growth will not happen under these conditions.
Witnesses on steemit are your assurance of confidence in the system.
When you vote for witnesses, think about someone less obvious:
@timcliff is a really good steemmate of mine, a very trustworthy and dependable guy who thinks for himself and for you. He is a seasoned developer who is always looking for better ways of doing things but is not one to gloss over obstacles – he solves them.
So, go to https://steemit.com/~witnesses - you need your authorisation password
I now have my 30 votes operating (see below). I support @timcliff because of my experience, the only way of integrity. It is well worth reading witness reports!
I vote for: abit, bacchist, blocktrades, boatymcboatface, busy.witness, chainsquad.com, charlieshrem, clayop, complexring, dragosroua, fyrst-witness, gtg, jabbasteem, joseph, klye, krnel, kushed, liondani, masteryoda, nextgencrypto, pfunk, picokernel, riverhead, smooth.witness, someguy123, steempty, thecryptodrive, timcliff, wackou, witness.svk

Upvoted & Followed!
Much appreciated. I take it you agree! I am still watching that cat which is making me smile!
I for one, like the way you write. My vote, however, is as a grain of a sand on the beach.
@kus-knee (The Old Dog)
Thereby wags a tail! Sorry, couldn't resist it ...
Thanks for reminding us what good these initiatives do to the community, what they represent.
I am a regular with the Daily Tribune :)
Appreciated on my Steemit Appreciation Friday No. 5 post. Thank you!
Yeah man , I think we nee to host a huge forum to clear out misconceptions and figure out a way to grow , like really, Steemit has been through a lot for a year maybe half a year for most and for me personally , when I look back and see 500/1500/3000$ payouts I see the way it should be , I'm not sure if that is why the value if deflated right now , because back then it was 1.5$ at some point , if I remember correctly.
Anyway we need to clear out and figure which way to go so many hard forks so far bring us in circles. And unless we talk it out there will never be a improvement, also those whales need to stop the divisions , at least for now , before the launch , when the platform is stable , we can host flag wars i guess :D
back to your 2 suggestions
1 already suggested in a way / saw whales downvoting overvalued content too in the past ,
2 can't say i see a point , since you can control the sliders and you can see in steemd anyway , that's a useless feature , at least I see it as such.
Unless we fix real problems, not enough reading, people "mining" content (voting for gains) , groups , categories and such , not enough data tools and finally a consensus and a clear "plan"
Many thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.
I have also seen whales doing as you said but that is sporadic. It led to the spat a couple of weeks ago.
Showing the most overvalued posts every day would make people think.
In terms of vote value, where does this appear anywhere?
Hi ebryans, I appreciate the mention. We had considered publishing a list of the most overvalued posts but decided against it. It is one thing to highlight posts and authors who deserve more recognition but telling certain authors they deserve less seems to verge on being mean-spirited.
I understand you BUT, you know where I am going with this ... the vote value by account needs to be understood (the major part of the post). Everyone is fighting giving an answer. But we all know that this is the key to understanding the exponential curve. The sooner everyone gets this the sooner the playing field gets flatter. steem will (actually it should be 4 cents right now) go up if people behave like adults.
I really appreciate your reply. The value of a vote varies, I know, so does the value of a post. Why not show that value?
You know why, I know why - don't expose the rort!
So what's the deal with these guilds? Any way of joining people with similar interests?
May I suggest you come and join our Facebook group where you will find a very supportive group with lots of positive advice?
Aspiring Steemit Whales and Dolphins
You will be most welcome!
Definitely, here I come!
Definitely, here I come!
