@KaylinArt

In hardly any time at all, @kalinart has become famous on Steemit for her gorgeous artwork, informative art tutorials, and the insights she has to offer from her own life experiences.  Currently she’s amassed over 27,000 in Steem Power, and growing every day.

Dolphin Digest recently interviewed her on Rocket Chat to learn all about artful approach to Steemit.  If you’ve been looking for the real scoop on how to make it big like her, then you’re definitely going to watch to take notes on @kaylinart and copy a few pages from her playbook.

@kaylinart will be answering questions down in the comment section below, so now is a great chance to learn more about Steemit from one of the best bloggers in the game!

- What is the concept underlying your Steemit Blog? What kind of content do you produce?

I write self-improvement articles, art tutorials and posts about my personal life.

- Do you promote your content actively, or do you rely on quality content to speak for itself?

I do a bit of promoting, but nothing too crazy.

- If you actively promote your content, what strategies do you use?

Usually through Steemit chat, Facebook, and Twitter. I also focus on bringing quality comments on other people's blogs and work, especially people who do not have a lot of comments at the time. That also helps me get my name out there.

- What strategies have you tried to promote your content that didn't produce results, or otherwise were not worth continuing?

I feel like “pinging” on Google doesn’t work. I haven’t continued using that method.

- Did you buy any Steem to power up, or have you earned all of it organically by engaging on the platform?

Well when I first started, I actually invested 450.00 of my own money into Steem power, because I wanted more voting power. But I have taken that out recently in Steem dollars. Most of what I have is organic. The 450.00 didn’t make a huge difference overall.

- What leads you to want to follow someone?

When they post high quality content, often that I am interested in, such as science, art, or articles about investing or money. I am more likely to follow them.

- What kind of content do you most like to upvote?

Sometimes I’ll read quite a few articles a day, I’ll even read stuff that isn’t necessarily my favorite subject. But If I see a lot of effort put into the post, like original photos or high quality writing, I will give them my upvote.

- How do you discover exciting new content?

I like to check the “active” and the “new” content. I also check my feed multiple times a day.

- Do you only upvote content for curation rewards or also content that you think is valuable and want to support?

A little bit of both. I won’t hesitate to upvote a high quality article even if it doesn’t do well. Quality deserves to be rewarded! But I do strategically place some of my upvotes each day. So I can receive some reward too!

- What do you like most about Steemit?

I like the ability to blog on a platform where people will see it, I want exposure! I loved Medium for that, but everyone was telling me to blog on my own website. My own website felt too lonely. Steemit gives me an excuse to blog on a platform without feeling “less productive” because I’m getting a lot of great feedback, rewards, and learning more from it. I’ve been slowly recruiting my email list.

- What do you dislike most about Steemit?

I don’t like the trolls and the spam, I really hope Steemit will enable a block feature soon. I don’t like when people come to the site and do plagiarized posts where they expect to make a quick buck. I also don’t like the really short “Tweet” posts. This isn’t Twitter! You need more than 140 characters!

- Who are your Steemit mentors?

Of course I have to say @stellabelle She recruited me. She’s helped me get where I am at right now!I also Love the content of  @treeshaface @dragonslayer109 @fairytalelife @kenny-crane

- Which whales do you recommend Steemers follow and why?

@dantheman because knowing what is going on with Steemit is very important.

@tuck-fheman He posts funny original comics.

@stellabelle She posts raw content, about herself and with her secret writer project. I feel like she hits the deep personal stuff we all want to read about.

@gavvet Wonderfully written high quality content. I could read his blog all day.I think everyone I’ve mentioned is considered a “whale”.

- Which dolphins do you recommend Steemers follow and why?

@dana-edwards She writes a variety of interesting content everyday.

@sterlinluxan is Anarchists posts are extremely interesting, and he looks at the world in a new way.

@masteryoda His payout leaderboards are fun to look at, And you can see the articles that performed well in one glance.

@fairytalelife Her tutorials and art is amazing, I can’t wait to one day be a children’s book illustrator. As an artist I envy her skills, She is a true artist!

@lauralemons She’s a baby whale! But her posts are high quality and interesting. She’s like a mini dolphin version of @stellabelle her posts range from life stories to her gorgeous art!

- What are the keys to your success on Steemit?

Keep posting high quality content. I love the phrase “Steemit is like a lottery,” It truly is. Some posts don’t do well, But others BLOW UP! It’s worth it.- I was lucky enough to join early so that really helped. I advertise my stuff, and I experiment with titles, Pictures and topics.- I try to figure out what Steemit needs, and I add value to it.

- What advice would you give to newcomers?

Don’t give up, You’ll have a lot of posts that don’t do well! Don’t believe me? Check my first blog posts I’ve ever posted. EXPERIMENT! Try different titles, photos and different tactics. Make your titles dramatic. Make your reader click! Don’t take it too seriously. Remember: Other social Medias DON’T pay you, even that 0.19 you made! It’s still more money than Facebook would give you after years of posting! POWER UP EVERYTHING! Don’t take out money until your estimated value is at least 20,000. Powering up is important. It will help you be more successful later on. People will value your vote more. As a result you’ll get more upvotes on your posts.

- Where do you think Steemit will be in a year?

Steemit will be the biggest social network ever. It will crush Reddit and other sites. I know we are seeing some downturn on Steemit right now. But everything falls down once in a while. We, as a community, need to help get the word out, so it can blow up into something bigger and better.

@kaylinart will be answering questions down in the comment section below, so take a moment to think of your best question and drop her a line.

@KaylinArt

Let's Network!

Finding and following whales is easy.  Unfortunately, getting them to recognize the value of your content is all but impossible.  That’s why I created Dolphin Digest.  So that up-and-coming Steemit stars can learn the secrets of success from those who have already achieved their goals.  Minnows will have a chance to network with others who are closer to their level than the big names everyone is trying to get ahold of.

Make sure to follow @dolphindigest if you like this sort of thing, as well as @kaylineart - trust me, her artwork will be something you look forward to seeing in your feed.

If you’re a dolphin and you’d like to be interviewed for my blog, or you know of an excellent dolphin who I should reach out to, leave me a comment below and tell me all about it.

Keep swimming,

@dolphindigest

Great interview with one of the nicest people on Steemit! Lin, thanks for mentioning my name. :-)

I agree with Powering Up. I powered up a part of my Steem Dollars and have never powered any down. I'm here for the long haul!

Hey @kenny-crane, would you be willing to share what percentage of your Steem Power was bought, as well as any insights about how you feel like it benefited you?

When I was writing articles before July 4th, I was lucky enough to be rewarded with about 1000 SBD. After a few weeks thinking about what to do with it, I decided to convert it to Steem and got 290 Steem. I cashed out 200 and powered up 90. I already had several thousand Steem Power so it didn't matter much, but I wanted to reinvest some Steem because I feel the platform is a good long term investment. That's also why I have not powered down any of my Steem Power.

Would you like to be interviewed for my blog @kenny-crane?

Sounds like fun! If you decide you want to do this, please contact me by email...

Thanks!

I've tried to promote post, but can't login correctly. Even after trying different keys in the Permissions tab.

I promoted it with 15.00 So that should help give it some exposure!

@kaylinart Could you clarify what you promoted and how?

Yes please explain.

There's a promote button at the bottom right of the article. Anyone including the author can click that button and spend SBD to promote a post.

Great interview and especially the newcomers advice, Im working through that now. Being more art inclined its inspiring to see someone like Kaylinart making good on steemit and sharing her wisdom. Im sure she make whaledom in the near future.

Thank you :) That is the goal for sure!

Awesome Interview! Thanks for doing it! :)

My pleasure. Check back in from time to time, because more are sure to come.

Thank you for inviting me to do an interview!

I should be thanking you Kaylin, I wouldn't even be able to get off the ground without your help. :)

One can learn many things from an interview. I got answers of my numerous queries. Thank you for this interview.

Hey @mgibson I'm glad you were able to find something valuable in this post. Would you be willing to share some snippets of what most interested you?

yes, a bit like lottery. sometimes you gross peanuts and sometimes you gross a burger. For me, occasionally, I gross a meal at a restaurant. still working hard. :-)

The question, @ace108, is whether that meal is through a drive-through window or somewhere involving a tablecloth. ;)

Definitely not drive through though table cloth is not as important to me as the quality of food. :-)

The best way to tell how good the food in a restaurant is is to ask the staff... if they hesitate before saying it's good, you know it's time to book a table somewhere else. ;)

Great read. I'm an avid follower of @kaylinart. I discovered her on one of my first days here on Steemit and I'm glad I did. I try to read as many of her posts as I can.

Thanks for doing this interview. It's cool to learn about the strategies of the Steemians I look up to.

Hey @sethlinson I'm glad you enjoyed the interview. :)
