Advertising on steemit
At any point will steemit be displaying advertising or generating other sources of revenue to cover running/dev costs and build up value of STEEM.
Perhaps a pos dividend payment each month to those who invest either financially or with content creation which would stop STEEM selloffs.
This would truly make steemit the worlds first social network site owned and powered by the community.
Whats everyone elses view on this?
Would be interesting to know what the future holds for steemit.
I think it's fine for companies to create a profile and post content, just like everyone else. If their stuff is good, it will be liked and shared.
I don't see a need for Steemit to have banner advertising or other types of traditional advertising. This is a new model for revenue and I don't believe the platform needs to make money with paid advertising. I keep seeing people wanting there to be advertising so that Steemit can "compete" with Facebook... but this is something different than Facebook and doesn't play by the same rules.
As a small business owner, I could create a profile and share similar content to what I share on Facebook... but I don't think that's where the opportunity lies. I do think that in the future, I will make posts about items I want to sell. That might actually do well here. It's something I'd like to experiment with... but I don't think Steemit needs paid advertising.
Those are my thoughts on the issue.
I hate advertising, but im not so ignorant as to think it will never show up here.. It would be nice if the profits were distributed between users. But steemit is a company. They need to make money. As it is the promoted tab is the equivalent of advertising.. You pay SBD to get your post to show up on the promoted page. There are no big companies doing it so I look through it from time to time still.. But once companies advertise there. I will never look again
