Pyramid scheme model

Somehow you managed to know about Steemit and register your account. Good!!

"Get paid for writing" they said... "the more you write the more you earn" they said... Then you take a look and it feels like you can write as good or better than those getting 2 digits!

You are inspired and motivated! Time to write your first master piece since your latest school homework! You publish and people writes comments and upvote your post... you are excited!

Unfortunately... after ages of 24 hours... you get $0.00 earnings WTH!!

What's going on here? huh!? Is Steemit a pyramid scheme where only the so called whales and other aquatic mammals earn something? Or is there some homework you still have to do?

I'M LURKING FOR ANSWERS!! Please share your comments and thoughts.

No, it's a meritocracy. Dig way back in my blog post history, where you can find how an argument for this can be made. There is no bouncer, no moderator, no safety net. People have to grow up in here. So who is above, may quickly find themselves underneath.

I see it more like show biz than a meritocracy at the moment, since all that matters is content and followers, one only needs to feed peoples "curiosity" to succeed.

It's not a pyramid scheme. In a pyramid scheme new people pay to join which is then used to pay the profits for the people who joined before. So by any definition it can't be described as a pyramid scheme. When new people join it costs the platform 3 steem for each new user.

The thing you have to do is get other people's attention. That was a lot easier when there were only a hundred or so people on the site. Now it gets harder and harder. You need to be creative and persistent.

Luck comes into it too but the longer you keep going and putting out good content the more likely you are to get noticed.

Also curating, commenting and helping out other members of the community is also helpful to your general reputation.

Keep plugging away. It gets better in time. Submit a post as often as possible. Timing is important. Good content is also important.

Thanks! I'll look for a good timing.

There's 2 ways: keep writing and build a followership. Look at how many posts the people have that are earning big digits.

Second method is to not expect free handouts and invest real money into STEEM and become a whale yourself.

Just popping into say hi! Nice to see a fellow devtomer over here :)

I'll try to give this post an actual answer later...

Thanks for letting me know about SteemIT!

I can see your frustrated, maybe try to understand how it works more. Do some google searches for article on Steemit that are on Steemit. I recently wrote about this issue of ignorance about how Steemit works and people complaining when they don't understand, Good luck. Peace.

Thanks for your advice! I'm actually frustrated but not in a negative way. Reading your post now!!

The more Steem power you have, the more Steem power or SD you give by upvoting. If you have almost none, then an upvote from you brings nothing to the author.

Read this recent topic by me, and the comments below.

Yeah! I set my posts to get paid in 100% Steem power (if I ever get paid :P)

You can try commenting on threads of influential users - hopefully you will get an upvote and get a higher credibility rating. I see that you are already over the starting 25 points, so you must've received someone's respect :)
