The more Steem power you have, the more Steem power or SD you give by upvoting. If you have almost none, then an upvote from you brings nothing to the author.

You can try commenting on threads of influential users - hopefully you will get an upvote and get a higher credibility rating. I see that you are already over the starting 25 points, so you must've received someone's respect :)
