RE: The POWER of a POSITIVE PLATFORM

in #steemit7 years ago

@jaynie, I largely ended up on Steemit because I was fed up with Farcebook by the time we reached the end of the US Presidential election circus. I was watching people-- including good friends-- randomly attack each other and start mudslinging. And it all seemed to disintegrate into "I hate this, and I hate that, and I hate YOU because you like something I don't like."

I watched people who had been good friends for life... even OUTside social media... take each other to task over petty things. And end friendships.

Steemit was an interesting oasis because people seemed to engage each other at a much higher level here. Sure, there were lots of crypto geeks and developers... and their stuff is STILL a bit over my head. But there were also many good "old bloggers" here-- people with passions who truly cared about the art of writing and the love of interaction and engagement.

I look at the content I create here... and often gauge its success by how many comments there are, more than anything else. Because if someone felt moved to comment (and not just with six words!) then obviously I did something right to reach them.

Oh I could not agree with you more!!!! Facebook has in many ways become like a mud fight lol! I actually NEVER visit it anymore, other than to share my steemit post links hahaha! It simply doesnt interest me to fill my hours with the endless drama I see on that platform and twitter is not much different.... As for instagram, well... selfie central really lol!

Steemit is completely unique in that respect - yes a lot of the tech talk is a bit over my head too but there is definitely plenty of good stuff that does not confuse my brain hehehehe!!!

Thanks for your input on this - we definitely share like mind on the matter ;)
