New Features on Steemit

Trending is Useful

The trending page is now more useful than ever. Now that payouts are daily, the trending page shows the highest valued posts. It will probably be made the default page soon.

Payout Time Sort Order

We added a new payout time sort order that allows you to see which posts are about to be paid out. This should give everyone one last chance to up/down vote a post before payouts become irreversible.

New Downvote Button

Downvote button has been replaced with a flag in the top right corner of each post. This makes it clear that downvotes should be used to flag content for abuse more than to just push someone else down.

Payout Status

You can now inspect a posts payout status by clicking on the pending payout amount. It will tell you when a post is scheduled to payout and how much it has been paid in the past.

Enjoy!

While I am enjoying the new features, I feel that the area that really needs improvement on Steemit is in regards to followers and following. For the life of me I can not easily find who I am following and who is following me. Also, I would think that if I am following someone their posts should be featured prominently in my recommended; of the first fifteen posts only one was by someone I was following. Not that I want to live in a bubble, but there is a reason I take the extra time to click on the follow button.

Thank you again for all your great work.

I agree as well. It should be easy to see who you are following and who is following you. Of course, it should also be easy to see the posts of those you are following. This should be apart from "recommended", which is a different concept entirely. Personally I would like to see a checkbox to limit my view to posts of users I am following. This way, once I am following many people, I will have the choice to view all of their posts (and only their posts) in multiple available ways i.e. most recent, trending, etc.

Just tried the flag button on this post. Why not a number near it which indicates who and how many people downvoted a post, with how much Steem power?

By the way I think you and some people are abusing the upvote feature, this post doesn't worth $100.

Without a time showing on each post directly (I mean on the list page, but no need to click to see), the "Payout Time Sort Order" page makes no sense.

You can still see the downvotes in the vote drop down, but that won't work at all in practice (already questionable) once the user base expands.

Good ideas.

I like the changes. We will have to see how the flag button works. I'm worried that some people will press it accidentally, but I'm glad it's pretty far away from other buttons now.

I accidentally pressed it while scrolling on a mobile. A confirmation would be useful, along the lines of "You are about to downvote. Are you sure you want to flag this content for abuse?"

Definitely it would be much better a window pop-up asking : "Are you sure you want to flag/report this post?"
and maybe the option to select between a couple of reasons...

and use the answers for statistical reasons and/or maybe even to use it against the poster's reputation if some thresholds are reached....

PS next to the "flag" icon add the word "Report" like on youtube. It will get noticed easier and is self-explanatory!

This makes a lot of sense for the reasons suggested. It will also help people understand the purpose of the flag , which is NOT to downvote content you simply disagree with. Also, I would use the label "Report this post", not just "Report".

The option to select reasons of Downvote is necessary, helps to filter content.
提供投反对票(踩)的原因选项是有必要的,可以有助于内容的筛选。

Community members' attitudes toward content will be more likely to present and analyze.
社区成员对内容的态度将更容易呈现和分析。

It's too small. Not many people will notice it, or know what's it.

Next to the "flag" icon add the word "Report" like on youtube. It will get noticed easier and is self-explanatory!

Hello, I'm new to Steem. Good updated; I prefer flag content to the downvote. Not understanding the culture, I was concerned about retaliation issues.

A suggestion for future enhancements, I personally think novices (to blogging) like myself need help with picking good tags so that external search engines pick up our content. A "recommended tags" would be helpful. Like a cross-reference between content and most common search words. I came to SteemIt because I noticed it show up in my search results and knew a little of Steem from BTT. It would be a sign of success to get the search engine to move Steem to more first page searches.

Yes, a list of flags make more sense. nsfw, spam, scam, etc. Harder to implement though.

Good points. NSFW...search engines can retaliate if tags are not flagging adult content. I was not aware there are blogs like that here. Perhaps "flag content" is a community approach to better tag management. Maybe a "+18 indicator" next to the flag button is a next step to better tags.

Cool, I like the changes, I didn't notice the flag until I read this post. It could be made a little more noticeable.

Will there be a notification alert feature for replies in the coming days?

The flag need to be more obvious. I did not see it until someone told me it was there.

Great stuff. I'm continually impressed. Thanks for accepting and implementing public feedback so quickly!

Nice, this is great.

Suggestion to reverse the payout info. Show the total payout, and the current payout in the detail box. Total payout is a "meaingful" property of the post while pending payout is part of the underlying system mechanics. This could be reversed in the "payout time" view.

I think it's already shown this way. But not reversed in payout time view.

Yes I see that looking in my blog page. But I think the payouts shown are half (maybe only author rewards are shown, not curator?)
