STOP Looking at the Freakin' TRENDING Page!
Keep scrolling down the 'Trending' page if you're a masochist, you'll just end up seeing the same sh*t every day. It's not like you'll find the latest, most relevant posts there, aside from the first couple of results, most of the top results are usually a couple of days old. Don't torture yourself by only looking at the artificially bumped blog posts, IMO you should never even click that 'Trending' button.
Forget About Trending
'Hot' is where it's at, it might not have the prominent place on the Steemit website, but it sure has the most interesting content. It's not that hard to get your articles on top of the 'Hot' section, I've noticed quite a lot of good content while browsing the 'hot' section. It's the perfect middle-ground; whereas the Trending section features too many established authors and the 'New' section features too much content at a faster pace , the 'Hot' section has the perfect balance.
As a curator it's definitely in your best interest to keep your attention focused on the 'Hot' section, it's much easier to spot content that is going to gain a large share of the reward pool. For end-users it's the same, you'll spot new and interesting posts much quicker.
My Personal Views
I've been active on Steemit for about 3 months and I think I've only looked at the 'Hot' section most of the time. 'Trending' just doesn't do it, you'll just see the same sh*t over and over again. Just spend some time browsing through 'Hot' and you'll find the joy in curating again. That's just my personal opinion ;-) If you disagree, lemme hear it in the comments!
Long-Term Solution
As long as people can buy upvotes, this problem won't be solved by making this shift towards the 'Hot' section. For now, my only goal is to convince a small portion of people to curate more content in the 'Hot' section. While this isn't a long term solution, it might still have a small impact on newbie creators. If only one person gets an additional upvote thanks to this post, I'll be happy! I really hope to see some additional effort by voting-bots to fix the problem of upvoted spam content and content creator monopolies.
steemit is the future of blogs and it can kill the facebook

Yes. Well Said My Friend! The Hot Section Is More Realistic Community Valued Content. Even though some is initially boosted to help it go viral.
Yeah, even though some content in the Hot section is boosted, it's usually still more diverse than most content on Trending. I wish more people started using 'Hot' though :P
Well said and I think I realised very early on the trending page was not some where I wanted to visit, but I will admit I have been slack and seldom looked at the Hot list, clearly its something I need to think about doing
