Here on the wet west coast of Canada 🇨🇦 Spring is but just the wettest season of all!

Seems this year spring has been skipped though, going straight from winter into summer. One week we were having freezing weather and the next I could go outside first thing in the morning in a T-shirt. It has been nice having such nice weather so suddenly but the lack of rain is rather concerning!

Last year we had a very similar situation with the lack of rain during spring which evolved into one of the worst fire seasons in recorded history. The devastation caused by the fires was felt all across Canada with myself now I’m struggling with breathing issues from inhaling all the particulate matter.

I am still hoping that we see more rain as we approach the end of this spring season but usually the rainfall occurs right at the end of winter just approaching the beginning of spring. The local water reservoirs would definitely appreciate it as the news has reported they are at an all time low and we will most likely be experiencing water restrictions starting at the beginning of summer rather than halfway through.

When you think of British Columbia Canada do you not think a vast lush green wilderness covering a mountainous terrain?

If things keep escalating the way they are now soon we very well may face the same fate as California! It’s a scary thought to have, in 20 years from now I may not recognize the place I grew up! The changes that we are experiencing to our environment are progressively speeding up, almost exponentially!

Are you a believer in climate change? Do you think it’s just mother nature’s natural cycle? Are we merely victims of something outside our control or are we the cause? No matter if you believe in the reasons for climate change and what it may mean for our futures, there is one thing that is predominantly clear based on statistical information.

The climate around the world is not the same as it was for the generation which preceded us! I speculate we can look forward and see the same for the generation that follows us!

The question remains, what if anything can we do about it at a general populous level?
