I agree, it's great . And adding crypto currencies to the virtual world is like peanut butter and jelly . Second life is still around (https://marketplace.secondlife.com/), and Mana coin (https://decentraland.org/) is a good example.
Also interesting ideas, The Po.et Token for artists (https://www.po.et/token) and musicoin for musicians (https://musicoin.org/how-it-works).
