RE: May 30 Days Writing Challenge - Day Four: What Are The Top 5 Most Relevant Witnesses On Steemit? Why?
Hmmm, I won't be participating in this one. Your post is very interesting in the witnesses you chose and in the contributions that they have made, like Yabapmatt who has one-handedly brought bid-bots to a new level, Utopian with their super big platform... And I don't know the other two, Smooth and Jesta, but Curie has been helping the people I know for a while and they are indeed pretty big.
But... this is too politicised and, on one hand, I could talk about my preferences, and that would make them not really the most "relevant on Steemit" but the most "relevant for Sharon". And even then, I don't want to bring hostilities. Flag wars going around, showing preference for some Witnesses is bound to bring bad eyes from other Witnesses, now or later when my account has grown.
I don't think it would be convenient to participate. Sorry! I was really eager to write the full 30 days.
I wouldn’t worry about it too much as long as you don’t attack anyone. I’m very verbal in my dislike for bidbots, I started the #nobidbot tag and I’ve yet to have been flagged by anyone. I was even directly upvoted by bidbot from its owner despite all this. People general just don’t like to feel like they are being threatened. It’s a post about who you think is relevant (for me I wrote who’s I thought was good for the community, not necessarily creating good apps) not wbout who you dislike or don’t support. If that was the question, I’d probably be nervous to answer...I’d probably still do it though.
There have been people who have disregarded my posts because they saw that I use bidbots, and as far as curations go, very few minnow curations would support someone like me who has around $35 in upvotes per post, regardless of whether it's from upvotes or not.
I've also seen people claim that bidbot users are destroying the platform, but it's only natural that people will use them if they're the only way of reaching the front page without big votes.
Anyway, I already didn't participate. I'll go for the next posts in the challenge. :) <3

I don't know enough about the platform to throw around names about whom I think is relevant. It would end up in me calling the names of the few witnesses I know, which are really very few, and in a few months or years, my opinions and the side I chose could close many doors for my future. So no, I don't think that it would be convenient to try.

I think that's exactly what I was looking for: whats the most relevant for each person. Please keep in mind I didn't say: "best" witness, or "relevant".
I agree this is politicised, but this is the very nature of DPoS. It's not a perfect system, but at least it's better than PoW, where all it matters is computing power.
I would be really curious to see how you see witnesses...
I've tried to start to write the article 3 times and made a couple outlines, but it's just too politicised a topic to discuss overtly without fear of repercussions in the future or without hypocrisy out of convenience. I'll leave it like this. I'll keep writing on the other ones. :(
Hmm, now you made me think. In all honesty, I think you may project some of your current fears onto this system. Yes, you are obviously biased (and so am I and everybody on the platform), but that doesn't mean you will be punished for speaking your mind.
As a person who lived 19 years under a communist regime, I understand very well your fears. I also think, based on my one and a half year experience here, that Steemit is not even remotely similar with what we experienced under those totalitarian regimes, although sometimes seems / looks like / is unfair.
I respect your choice.

And yeah, I might be projecting my fears, since I've lived already 20 years under a communist/socialist regime, like you. I've seen Twitter users dragged to jail for opposing the government, and worse, and I'm sure you're familiar with similar things.
So maybe it's just the way I see the world that has passed into this new environment where it may perhaps not be as justified. But I do see Bernie punishing all who talk slightly bad about him, similar to Rancho. I've seen so many accounts be lost in blacklists because of their support for one side or the other, and even for being against or for other parties, like all of Noganoo's friends (whose posts are all greyed-out now), etc.
Who knows if by saying I support certain witness I'll get destroyed by a witness who hates them. I know a few of these hated witnesses, and one of them is in my vote list, but if I spoke for him or others similar to him, I might bring those that flag them onto my posts.
And even then, I've been treated badly for using bidbots. I know that most people are neutral and respect the decision of others, but there are some who don't, so if I spoke for Yabapmatt, for example, or for Adsactly, or any other witness whom I looked positively once, I might be choosing the "wrong side" and rejecting the support that I might have gotten by another side if I had not supported this one.
Anyway, I'll leave it at this. <3 Thank you again for the challenge. My second post got around $7 in organic votes and I'm very thankful for the opportunity to earn the support of the community that I love.
