Excited to see my SP>1000 today! Thank you all so much :)
I was very excited this morning to wake up, get on steemit and notice that I had some rewards to claim which pushed me over the 1,000 Steem Power mark. I decided to share my excitement and a little bit of information about my strategy here through this post as well as my gratitude to everyone.
After reading a post on Steemit by one of my favorites that I'm following, @jerrybanfield, I decided a week or so ago to allocate 100% of my rewards as SP and I converted most of my SBD and STEEM to SP so my influence is a little bit higher. I've found the value of my upvote has increased to 15 cents which isn't a whole lot by some people's standards but it means a lot to me. I like being able to add value to the community in this way.
You can check your steem power and a lot of other things about your account through the site mentioned in this post by @andyluy. I just discovered it yesterday and I'm thankful that he shared it with the community so I resteemed it.

It's definitely a long term investment for me as I've added some of my own funds to increase my SP. I've roughly matched my earnings here with my own money since I joined this community and despite the recent downturn in the value of STEEM I'm continuing to blog, interact with others, and buy STEEM once every week or so to add to my SP.
I look forward to continuing to build my SP in the coming weeks, months and years as I believe someday this platform will be enormous in the coming years and those of us who even just recently started here will reap great rewards for it if we continue to work hard to add value to the community.
My next goal is to reach 2,000 SP by the end of September through earnings and my own contributions. I'm excited about pursuing this goal and seeing where I end up in terms of account value in the near and distant future.

I cannot wait until my sp grows and my voting power is influential! As a single mother of three teen boys with zero child support I need every sbd just to survive, so I have to take the long path lol. But I will get there ;)

Hey @arbitrarykitten! I'm glad to see you here. I've followed you as well after I read through some of your blog this morning when I was drinking my usual too many cups of coffee lol.
That must be a challenge having 3 teenagers and I completely understand why you're taking the payouts when you get them. Everyone has different goals and reasons for being here and the diversity on this platform is pretty amazing.
Hopefully we'll see a rebound in the price of STEEM at some point and those who make part of their living off this can have a little bit more income. I definitely know what it's like to need every penny...I spent most of my 20's working crappy jobs while I was getting my degree. Best of luck to you in earning as well as your longer term goal of growing your account.

Yes, I only see growth. The potentials of the platform are almost limitless. I'm definitely a believer, and I don't fall completely for anything!

Yes! I'm glad to see others are pursuing this same path. It's nice to be able to convert to SP whenever you want although the process going in reverse is a bit slower.
