Word Cloud for Steemit Roadmap 2018: Community Input

The immediate take away from the word cloud for the Steemit Roadmap 2018: Community Input Request is that ‘bots’ and ‘users’ got almost equal attention from contributors, with ‘content’, ‘rewards’ and ‘comments’ not far behind and rounding out the top 5, all of which I think demonstrates a keen understanding of the key and extremely interrelated challenges currently facing Steemit. This kind of community consensus focused on real and identified immediate concerns is extremely positive in my opinion.

Contributors' high knowledge level is seen in frequently mentioned words like ‘platform’, ‘blockchain’, and ‘community’ all reflecting a rather clear understanding of the underlying characteristics that can never be ignored, while their practicality brings us back to the day-to-day with their use of those like ‘curation’, ‘quality’ and ‘delegation’.

It’s not exactly the best way to statistically assess the ideas discussed, and even less useful in analyzing specific suggestions, but interesting, fun and generally informative nonetheless.

And if you take a really close look, you’ll even see some of the names of the Steemians who took the time to share their valuable thoughts. 🙂

Leading the 1000+ word list was the ‘user’/‘users’ combination seen in the word cloud as the single word “users”. ‘Bot’ and ‘bots’, were also combined, as were ‘account’ and ‘accounts’. STEEM and Steemit were, of course, mentioned the most, but were filtered out as they are the central subject under discussion and therefore of little relevant statistical use in this case. Other words of common everyday usage such as ‘like’, ‘posts’, ‘think’, ‘new’ were also filtered, as, of course, were the majority of mundane adjectives, adverbs, articles, etc., etc.

It might not be statistical but it is fairly accurate. The two biggest challenges at the moment are attracting and retaining new users. Then the use and misuse of bots. Both will need to be solved if the site aims to keep up it's expansion and progress.

I agree 100%, and seeing this sampling of fairly galvanized community opinion that is also in basic agreement makes me very positive on the prospect for long term Steemit success.

Absolutely. What we really need is a way to engage the newest members and give them a boost to start of on the site. It can be very hard starting off and I am guessing that we lose a lot of people in their first month on here as they don't see any progress. The more active and enthusiastic members that we have the better.
And better for the future.

@niallon11, being one of those people your talking about I totally agree with you.

To be honest I joined to look at the platform from an investing perspective mainly, expecting more of the typical type of social media,,,,But what I found was so much more!
I've been here for a couple of week's just looking around learning and getting a feel for the platform and still will for another couple of weeks before posting an intro post, but at the moment I feel that a lot of people who come from regular social media outlet's could do with something to add entertaining interaction (other than total public interaction, like a playground environment) that could earn small reward's.
Steemit is still so new that a lot of the content isn't as layman as the other outlet's so something to keep new people easily entertained could help them spend more time here.

You're right about that. Even since I joined a couple of months ago there has been new features added that have improved things with many more in the works.
What it will take is the combined effort of steemit users to make it more accessible for the new members so that they do interact and stay. At the moment it is heavily geared towards the crypto community which won't interest most social media users. I found that myself as only having a passing interest in crypto.
When the new smart media tokens come online next year I think that we will see a much bigger push towards developing more mainstream sites on the steem blockchain which should bring a lot more people into the system and increase the value of steem. Now is the right time to be getting involved here before it kicks on.

Blockchain brought me here but the crypto here kept me here, lol. I need to look into those SMT's again, I glanced it the other day and it looked good in concept( I'm still new to the larger crypto thing).

I hope your right, this platform has so much potential, from being here what I've came to understand about how the chain works, it truly is next level.

Same as. I would never have heard of steemit if I wasn't researching cryptos. Nobody I know has ever heard of it either until I introduced them but I'm here now and fairly addicted. Looking forward to SMT's. I think they are a game changer.

I looked up the SMT's today and it wasn't what I thought it was, I was thinking of Simple Token which will be a similar non-smart concept with business and industry.
I hope your right about the SMT's, they really do look like they will make thing's much easier and thank you for mentioning them.
I've found a new token that looks very promising, I'll make a post about it in a day or two after I've spent more time having a deeper look, this one look's like a world changer.

how things will sustain that's the most challenging part

The key to sustainability is continually creating value, and I agree, that is the most challenging part.

@cryptographic thanks for sharing the steemit cloud. Interesting to check the names over there.

By the may, I thought you would be interested in checking the last post I made about creating the "Earn Interest Tab". Here is the post: https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@gold84/we-need-the-earn-interest-tab-or-earn-money-tab-on-steemit-so-potential-users-can-easier-and-faster-understand-this-great
Looking forward to your thoughts! @gold84

Yes, it's interesting to have a visual look at the number of times each relevant word was used in relation to each other - it gives us a very quick and easy way to see what was important to people at the time they made those comments - but it's a little disheartening to see that this post only has 31 views after 8 hours though. It needs some resteem help. 😉

@cryptographic you are right. Just reestemed. @gold84

Looking forward to your thoughts on my past posts. Some ideas for the steemit interface.

Thanks man!

@cryptographic,
I see a lot of quality contents don't get what they deserve to get, as a result bots are on the field! But for me bots are not always profitable, in other words they do a mathematics game and steal from people in a nice way! But my overall idea is due to Steemit, Steem will get more audience and for me Steem is about to moon soon! Great article from you again, but look rewards wise you got less :/

Cheers~

Question for you @gold84...

What's your take on DASH? Can it out-pace Bitcoin in percentage value growth?

How are you anyways? Not seeing your comments much anymore. :(

@bigsilver I see it is climbing, however, I did not research much about it. What are your thoughts about Dash? I have been a bit busy and did not have enough time to read the posts and like to make quality comments. @gold84

Hey, no problem. Just checking in.

I just bought some more DASH and think it's got some very good upside in the coming months. Could be 3 x 5 increase is what I'm looking for.

@bigsilver sounds good. I will wait until it goes a bit lower, it is too high now. At what rate did you buy dash? @gold84

I've bought it twice. Most recently, I got it at 0.05903999 BTC.

If it takes a dip, likely a good buy.
