Aha that both makes sense.

That's really a lot of money for a boiler!
I really don't know how expensive one would be in Holland. But I would say am ordinary house boiler should be much cheaper. As most people just use central heating to heat the water. And the central heating costs $3-4k to buy a new one.

Sort:

The actual boiler itself if around $5k, then there is install costs which adds a bit. But the issue is I'm in a 1920's house with a lot of old electric and once the inspector sees the electric that ran to the old boiler he will make me replace it and once you touch electric in my town you have to bring all electric up to code that runs on that circuit panel. There are some exclusions which I hope we qualify for, if not this actually could become more expensive which is my holding the SBD and Steem as a backup plan. Like I said I'm really hoping not to touch it and earn enough to cover everything. Oh and there are pipes that need to be replaces as they are from the 1940's and showing age. It's just one of those projects that is a can of worms. Once you start on 1 thing it leads to another.

Oh boy.

Guess that remembers me why I prefer to buy only new houses. Build after 2000. Although sometimes you can still have bad luck with new build houses.

2000 and newer homes are full of planned obsolescence items. My boiler was from the 1940's, a new one will never last 78 years. So while the bill sucks, it's nearly 80 years in the making...lol.

Personally I like old homes and prefer their charm to new homes. My block...actually my entire neighborhood is full of homes that are all different as they were built back when each lot owner built what they wanted so no 2 homes are the same. Homes range from the late 1800's to the 1960's. Love this about my neighborhood.

The only new homes are ones where they tore down a small old house and put up a massive house in the middle of our neighborhood. I don't really like most of them, but that is mainly because they are huge (4500-6000sq ft) homes on small lots so the house takes up just about every square inch of the property. Just doesn't look right.
