RE: STEEM II Announced: What's the Name? What's the Intent... What's the Difference?

in #steemit6 years ago

My wishlist for steem 2...

  • makiclean! Instant spam & phishing removal
  • better feeds (like most viewed!)
  • integrated notifications, private messages, group chats
  • blog archives (to find author posts easier)
  • better search
  • easier for new members to understand how steem works
  • quality gains more value than power (break up the kool kliq!)

I've been here on Steem less than 2 weeks, and I agree with most of the suggestions you made, @creativetruth. There's some clunkiness here, though having no programming background myself, I just cross my fingers and hope that those who understand this can/will make it better.

And... I also agree with @spiritualmax that there are a lot of good, if imperfect, elements here on this platform, and there are ways around the troublesome bots and phishing (just ignore them, and search out my peeps in the channels that appeal to me). When I think of how many years it took for me to build my Friend base on Facebook, I think I can be patient and watch how my Steemit experience unfolds. :-)

quality gains more value than power - what do you mean by this?

"Quality gains more value than power." That basically means that a post written by a world class expert or artisan should be able to make a well prepared post in their field, and get more views/votes/payout than a person who has very little knowledge on the same subject and prepares their post poorly yet has a lot of wealth to buy better views/votes/payouts. Does that describe what I meant better? I want the real champs to get their due rewards, so they don't have to go through 8 more years of labor, even after they've already proved to the world they are the best.

It was a slightly controversial item on my wishlist, because it would really redesign the economics of the entire blockchain.

Yeah, I would like that as well but, how would that be possible?

It does look good on paper but there certain hurdles such as how can "world class expert or artisan" convince his/her audience to upvote the post if the said audience have different preference even if it has the taste of a simpleton (unless that they used their brains well) and it gets even worse if some of them were whales.

Not to mention that to those who liked the post, how many SP did they willing to invest with their own resources just to upvote that post rather decently let alone some random Steemian who starts from nothing (as in no money to begin with) to something because that these people would drawn to that person even if he/she may or may not be "world class expert or artisan"
