Steemd.exe Windows 64 Binary With Mining Thread Patch
There was a bug discovered by Golos user @penguin in the Steem core mining code. @picokernel has done a great post explaining the details here: https://steemit.com/steem/@picokernel/we-may-have-just-fixed-a-critical-bug-in-steem This patch has already proven fruitful in expanding the mining queue. In an effort to get even more people in the queue and to make the process more fair I've compiled a Windows binary with the patched code. Windows users fire up your CPU cores!
Steemd.exe v0.14.2 with miner patch:

It seems to be ignoring the "mining-threads" argument in my config.ini file. Trying again with the "-t" command line argument instead. Also, ^c doesn't give me a clean shut down, so it has to reload the blockchain every time I restart. :-(
Update: Nope. Even with "-t" command line argument, it's still only using 1 core. Same thing on 3 different computers. It's getting late on the US/East coast, so that's it for me tonight.
Thanks for the quick compile, anyway.
"Also, ^c doesn't give me a clean shut down, so it has to reload the blockchain every time I restart. :-("
That's a feature!
Seriously though, it's a common complaint for Steemd in general.
Yeah, I wasn't having that problem with the unpatched version, though.
The patch is not working for me, I'm using @alphabeta compiled version with the new patch. The window disappears after its finishes downloading. I have a 2 threads and 16 gb of ram available for mining on my windows. If there is a better version let me know.
Hmm let's see if my gaming box will mine. What kind of ram requirements are we looking at?
You could probably go as low as 4GB I think some people have compiled for less. It's the cpu cores that will make the difference from what I understand.
I choose 2 threads to test, it's loading the blockchain. Thanks I have been looking for this, my linux system crashes before it finishes loading the blockchain and is quite a bit older then the gaming box.
I don't like this, I love this! Thanks!
